Best Parenting Advice I've Gotten So Far

While we were on vacation in France, we went to a two-star restaurant for lunch with our daughter. They came around with a complementary glass of champagne for us. I gave my daughter a little taste of it.

The sommelier says to me in all seriousness, "Monsieur, I would not give the little girl any more champagne. Soon, she will develop a taste for diamonds."

One of my best friends had recently had the first of his 4 kids when he and his wife went on a ski trip. Since they're both roughly the same jacket size, they got one lift ticket, and they'd trade the jacket back and forth while the other parent took care of the little girl in the restaurant.

So Chris is doing the usual first time dad thing, trying to keep his daughter from grabbing this and that off the table, when an old man just walks over, and sits down at the table. Chris just knows something priceless is coming:

"If they don't eat their weight in dirt the first seven years, they don't grow." :D

I love this thread already. The first few months, when my daughter was crawling, it was all about "fuzzy control". If I didn't get them off the floor, she'd try and eat 'em. We were vacuuming twice a day. :o

I've got a Jack Russell Terrier for that.
