Well since the Argies & the Frogs are gone, I now have to change to the Saffies. I'd rather have a Southern Hemisphere team win it, even though they are an arrogant bunch, at least they play rugby and try to score tries.
England, play the worst brand of rugby I've seen, but they've made the final, so it works. I don't have to like it though.
Give it to Jonny. Kick it son, kick it. ;) Fastest try in test history, good olde Engerland. Ground the frogs into St Dennis dirt....!
Give it to Johnny. Kick it son, kick it. ;) Doncha just luv it!!!
Actually I wuz pissed. Had a ************ day in work and consoled myself on the way home that I had beer and Tivo waiting. Got settled in turn on tuned in and the game came on in the 75th freeking minute Setanta, the bastards!! did it to me and started early. I sat fuming through the last few minutes saw the set obvious up for the kick that had to come then it was over.
Oh well, like as not it's the "arrogant" Boks against the Engerlanders.
Boks have to be favs, just hope for their sake they play their own game and don't try and match forwards.

Ummm you sure? :D
Jonny Wilkinson keeps his eye on the ball (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2007/10/15/srwilk115.xml)

I think you'll find that little Jonny not only kicks the ball strangely, he also spells his name funny! ;)

I watched it last (sunday) night on sentanta canada, who keep some pretty strange hours, and anyway, good stuff from Engerland. Winning ugly. And speaking of ugly, is there anything much uglier than a french rugby team? Wow. :)
Was a good game, neither team gave an inch all day. rough and tumble. Hard to believe the Union Jacks are back in the final.

Errrr no! :)
Parents who give their kids odd names, just to set them apart (mainly for the parents ego) should have to spend time in the playground with them.
We had a Rosepatrick in our class. Not Pat, not Patrick or Padriog but "Stinks"
His mother was pissed when she found out.
That's a whole 'nuther thread innitt?

Blame Jake White :D
Relieved Springboks coach Jake White rubbed salt into the Wallabies' and All Blacks' wounds after South Africa escaped a Rugby World Cup boilover of their own.
White claimed the Boks were mentally stronger and had better on-field leadership to handle the sudden-death pressure than eliminated Tri Nations rivals Australia and New Zealand.
I wouldn't say Australia were arrogant either- no-one really expected them to do anything this World Cup especially here, and i dont think the players really believed they would do much either.
The Kiwis may have been, but once again they choked, so maybe that arrogance was fake?

Well we're heading out to see the big match at my buddies. He lived in SA and Swaziland for 10 years and his kids were born there. Too bad Pieter, his eldest, cant come up from LA, he actually played for the Eagles U20's and loves the game. His buddy Luke plays Pro for some frog club. I'll have to find out who.
Going to be an interesting start....! See if England stick to their open field running game and rack up a bunch of tries. Or will they try something different and play to strangle the Boks by smothering their forwards and getting the ball out to Jonny in the dying minutes of a 3-3 match.......:D

What I wouldn't do to be back in South Africa right f*cking now.
Head: exploding
Heart: bursting
Smile: beaming
I can't even put what I'm feeling into words, right now. Too much to process.
A gritty effort from England, to be sure. So bloody proud of my Bokke, right now. I'll be riding this high for a while.

Good win for the Boks. Those two ground it out didn't they, England had the better of the first half with pressure inside the Bok 22 but good kicking to get out of there and England giving up PKs inside kicking range did them in.
Marginal call but probably correct for the try I thought he was helped out by #6 pulling him when he was "off the pitch". Why did that result in a pk then?
I think the Boks deserved it though, England's start to the tourny was just awful.
Thank goodness that you're not back in SA now. You'd just get shitfaced, falling down drunk and party all night.....second thoughts....:D

Congrats to the Saffies! :) At least we kept Bill in the Southern Hemisphere again! 5 out of 6 World Cups to the Southern Hemisphere teams who actually play running rugby (usually ;) )
What do you think about the Argies joining the Tri-Nations? I dont mind it actually. It wouldn't be any further for you Saffies to fly to Argentina, then it would be to fly to NZ. For our teams it would be further, but I think it would be good for the game there.

4 teams in the tri nations..wouldn't work.. Unless we dropped Oz...:)
It'd be good for the Argies and promote more interest in the sport.
Will Oz survive the passing of Creigan?

Survive? Its a godsend! ;)
He's been past it for a few years now, at least the younger generation will get the chance to secure his position for the long term.
It should provide some incentive.

Frankly, I think its a big flaw in the construct of these tournaments that Argentina doesn't get more playing time with the big boys. I'd gladly welcome them to the Tri-Nations (which I guess would make it the Quad-Nations or some such thing). Hell of a tournament for the Pumas and nice to see them end it on a terrificly high note, pounding the Frogs.
Nkosi sikelela, boys. My God, twice in four tries!!

I think I'd have to go the Four-Nations rather than the quad-option :D

Yes, well, for reasons we'd all obviously rather not go into, we enjoy a superior success rate to your boys  And, my goodness, if not for that kick in '99...

Low blow, boet. Uncalled for. Let's at least try to keep on topic. And remember: the important thing is that the Kiwis only have one.

And thats the most important thing- we stay ahead of the country that invented the damn game.

Congrats to the Boks. That was winning at its ugliest best :D England didn't look too bad and simply ran out of ideas at the end but never disgraced. There is enough emerging talent to make them a good bet for the 6 Nations.
By far the team of the tournament was Argentina. If the IRB had any b***s, they'd be part of the Southern Hemi tournament. It would be good for everybody there, although I wonder how they would get around the problem of foreign-based players. In my view, there ought to be a 5 Nations tourney down south with the Pacific Islanders taking the 5th berth. Question: would NZ allow it?
