Tim Howard may have just broken a finger on his left hand. Brazil had a corner kick that they scored on. It went across the goal, he turns and jumps to block the shot but misses. His left hand hit the crossbar HARD. The bar was shaking quite a bit after he hit it. They showed a replay that had him falling to the ground as soon as it happened and holding his hand to make sure he doesn't land on it.

He stayed in the net, but they just announced it's a dislocated left ring finger.

Saw that. Looked rough. First rule of friendlies - don't get ********ing injured!

I can't believe they're leaving him in. It's a ********ing friendly, Bob. Get Tim out and let him put some ice on that finger.

I can't believe he went the full game. If it turns out that he can't play on Saturday v. Manchester United, you can bet I won't be the only one who's livid.

Yeah, I was surprised they didn't take him out too. Too bad the US gave up 4 goals because he was better than that. The own goal was bad, the header that he hurt his hand on was perfect and the free kick by Ronaldinho was hard to see until it was too late. Hopefully his hand is fine in time to play. I was in a flag football class and jammed/broke a finger and was able to play and catch without a problem after a week or two. And Tim Howard is more of a man than I am.

Looked like he was ok after flexing that hand several times. He should be good to go against ManU.

But in all honesty, my heart jumped up into my throat when I saw him go down.

Ugghhhhh.

That's not what I heard, but I guess we'll see.

i at first thought it was his back as he landed and was super super pissed...

maybe he CHOSE to stay in, in which case he's either psychotic or wasn't in pain... maybe a bit of both :p

he was flexing his hand alot, and if he was in that much pain he wouldn't/shouldn't have really been able to do that... of course that is just in my not so medically savvy opinion...

who's our backup goalie at the moment? I don't even want to know. I just want timmy!!!

I was at the game and when the ball went out he got up and ran towards the sideline holding his hand straight out in front of him. My first thought was broken hand or wrist. And then when the trainers "relocated" his finger, he was lying on the ground stamping his feet. He was in obvious pain. And I was nearly in tears thinking he was seriously injured.

I'm not sure why he went back in goal...but he did.

BTW, EFC's back up keeper is the German, Wessens, I think?

It really pisses me off when shit like this happens in friendlies. Why couldn't they have stuck Kasey Keller in goal, no-one gives a shit about him. It'd look like such a fix if Howard were to miss another game vs. MUFC aswell.

Stefan Wessels, long-time No. 2 to Mary Shelley's Oliver Kahn.

----------

Dell, they didn't stick Keller in goal because the only other keeper called into the US camp was Fake Salt Lake wunderkinde Chris Seitz, who is all of 20 years old.

Would have been good to blood the kid. It was clear the US were never gonna win even if they had 3 Timmys in goal! :p

Howard remains confident he will figure for the Blues against United as Everton seek to continue their promising start to the 2007/08 campaign.

Hopefully he's right.
