D.C. United, CSN announce broadcast changes
September dates with New England, Chicago to be tape delayed
Washington, D.C. (September 7, 2007) - D.C. United and broadcasting partner Comcast SportsNet announced today plans to air United games Sunday, September 9 against the New England Revolution and Sunday, September 23 versus the Chicago Fire on a tape delayed basis. Sunday’s showdown will be played in its entirety on Comcast SportsNet beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET. Tickets to the match, scheduled for a 3:00 ET kick-off at RFK Stadium remain available at www.dcunited.com or through any TicketMaster outlet. D.C. United’s match in Chicago will be broadcast in its entirety at 4:00 p.m. ET, an hour later than the 3:00 p.m. ET scheduled kick-off.
D.C. United is currently riding a seven-game unbeaten streak and stands atop the Major League Soccer standings, a single point ahead of the Revolution. After playing host to New England Sunday, the Black-and-Red will play four of their remaining six League matches at RFK Stadium, including a date with Real Salt Lake next Wednesday, September 12.

I guess it is early enough in the Redskins season and they still have a chance of making the playoffs? I wish FSC or GolTV had the rights to all DCUnited games. They dont cut games off, delay, worry about other sports and have more interviews prior, during and after the game. FSC (en espanol) even goes outside the locker rooms for last minute interviews. CSN is no ESPN, but this announcement sends a similar message.

CSN can blow me. Can't ESPN hire Dave Johnson to replace Dave O'brien?

CSN can blow me.Why, dude? I think that they ought to regularly black out games for at least a few hours if not days, unless they are sold out. That puts a premium on actually showing up at the stadium.

I've got tickets tomorrow, but due to my schedule, was seriously thinking about not going and just taking it easy, flipping between DC, US/Brazil, and the Redskins. (I know, I know, I suck :o) However, if the game's not on live, I've got to be there, even if I get there a little late after refereeing.

?!????!??!!?????
What on Earth are you on about?
Would you rather them not televise the games at all? Actually having the games on delay helps in my ability to DVR multiple games at one time.
Don't quite know why your upset about this.

GMI'm with you on this, GrillMaster. Only teams that sell out every game (Redskins and Red Socks come to mind) should allow live TV of their games in their local area.
For all the rest, it just doesn't make sense.
Some phrase about why pay for it when you can get it for free comes to mind...

But what about people like me that can't make it down to every game? I would like to watch the games live! I don't want to wait until 3pm on a monday to watch the game

I'm glad. It means I can watch both the US v. SambaBoys and DC v. Revs. I'll pretend we're live and stay the heck off the internet....

CSN can't air Redskins regular season games. United is being dislodged for a Redskins postgame show this Sunday and a Redskins pregame show on the 23rd.
Both United matches will still air live on TeleFutura.

I'll bet Redskins' pre/post game shows do better than United ratings wise.

This match is supposed to be on TeleFutura as well. Is it delayed too or do they have their own feed?

Sweet. Since I can't make it that makes Tivoing the DC and the Dolphins game a lot easier.

Damn, the move on the 23rd really screws with my plan to not move from the coach for 10 hours due to futbol and football.
My only concern for Sunday is that they are going to display the score during the US-Brazil game, which will be kind of hard to avoid.

No Telefutura here and I may not be able to attend the match.:( It could be WMET and delay for me unless I can find the match online somewhere... Postgame should not take priority over a live event.

I'm glad for the change, it means that my family who has tickets for this game, and who will all be at travel soccer games (season tickets), will get to see DC United play.
I long for the Saturday night games!

Why don't you make the right choice and get your butt to RFK??
