Heerenveen is going to the club that torpedoed the Dutch league title for AZ Alkmaar in the last match of the season.
This club has the lowest budget of all Eredivisie clubs, some 4 or 5 million €€. But most of the seasons they have players that surpass that budget quality wise, because they can get players on loan for a small fee from Feyenoord in order to get them playing time and first team experience.
But to be honest I donot think Excelsior will be able to stick a bar between Heerenveens' legs.
Mike was valued with a 6 by "De Telegraaf" for his performance against Sparta last Saturday.

Don't we expect to see MB v. Brasil in Chicago on Sunday?
I wonder if he could play in both games ...

Is that good or bad? What's the scale. Thanks!

Sportweek gave Mike a 6 (out of 10) like "de Telegraaf", but added a rather not so nice comment, that sounds like "Mikey near miss". Meaning he is not quite what is needed.

If "near miss" refers to a shot, then it would be consistent with MBradley's performance with the USMNT. That is a part of his game that needs a lot of improvement--to be a really good central midfielder, his shots have to go at the goal, not around it.

I don't know if this quote refers to his place on the team, but I would be surprised if a Heerenveen side without Alves up top that relies on Bradley as a day-in day-out middie will be able to get in the top 8 this year.
Bradley has a lot of bite and has come along quickly, but this year's side doesn't seem to be clicking at the moment. Has anyone seen anything recently on how bad Hanssen's knee is? How long is he out? 'veen need to get better soon. Giving up three goals to Sparta is really not good.

Bradley is in the latest video on ussoccer.com with the US team in Chicago, so I don't think he's playing in this one.

Are we sure about this? They play Dutch league games during FIFA dates as well? I understand MLS does, but I'd be surprised if they did in Holland.

You're so right and I sit here red faced. The date should be 9/15!!:o
Can the moderator change the date (please)
Voetbal International also rated the performance of Mike with a 6, so this time there was consensus between the soccer knowers

the team would not have clicked at all last year without Alves. Bradley is a decent yiubf player for the team but is not what they need to win some games.

That was pretty clear when Alves got hurt. I haven't seen a prediction on when Hanssen will be back, but Bradley may have a bit more fight for PT then.
I think 'veen made a mistake not finding a way to cash in on Alves. They've had a really good record of finding strikers - maybe they didn't have anyone worthwhile in the sights. But I can't see any good coming out of the Alves saga.

Alves made a statement last Friday that he was "cool in the head again" and that he had a talk with the coach and the management and now he is happy again at Heerenveen and he will be back in the Netherland to do wat he is good at, scoring goals.

Well, that's nice. Hopefully he will be cool in the foot as well. He's a few pils away from match fit. Well, better fat and happy, than fat and unhappy, I guess.

Alves is cool because he probably got a decent raise.

How did he play against the US? Any signs of lack of stamina?

No line up yet available, but I donot expext it to be any different from the one against Sparta, as Alves again is missing. Is the acronym for that AWOL? Why couldnot Mike give that s.t head a good kick in the groin when he played against him in the US vs Brasil match to make it clear that we donot like behaviour like that. Mike could always say without lying that he went for the ball:D
