Year-End Player Awards

Before the game this past weekend, the RailHawks handed out awards to the following:

Unsung Hero Award: Chris McClellan
Offensive Player of the Year: Connally Edozien
Defensive Player of the Year: Frankie Sanfilippo
Inaugural Season MVP: Kupono Low

So the question is...do you agree or disagree with these awards? Who got left out? Should the supporters club start their own year end awards? Maybe we could do some sort of superlatives list like Best goal, best save, best individual performance, etc.

I have my own thoughts on all these questions, but I'm going to wait and hear from you guys first....Ideas? Comments?

I agree with the awards except the "Unsung Hero Award." McClellan's abilities were talked about the entire year and was constantly referred to as the main reason we weren't completely left for dead most of the year. I'd replace him with Dombrowski. He's been a pretty solid player for most of the year, but you never really think of him like you do Low, Sanfilippo, McClellan as essential to the team, but he definitely was.

Dombrowski needs some sort of award. I think they gave McClellan that award because Frankie got the defensive award.

We need a best goal award, which IMO should go to Low for the first ever goal way back when.

A long cracker and like I said, the first ever in franchise history.

When I asked who was left out, I was definitely thinking of Chad. I could also make a case that his one-time volley goal at Atlanta that gave us our first league win could be the best goal...but it's hard not to take Low's inaugural goal.

Yeah that was another one that sticks in mind. My top 5 in chronological order

Low's goal against Minnesota (first goal in franchise history)
Dombrowski goal at Atlanta (first meaningful win)
Edozien's goal at Vancouver (probably the best strike of the season)
Cephas' goal against Chicago (maybe not a wonder goal, but a defining moment for the franchise)
Edozien's third in Charleston (hattrick history)
