Great idea, ArsenalTexan3. I'm going next week to Maryland to a round of the U.S. Open Cup (which I assume is the equivalent) to see DC Utd. (MLS) : Pittsburgh Riverhounds (A-League). Here we go!

No news on the result of the Orebro/Assyriska. :( Oh well I guess the kind people of Orebro don't want to show off how bad they beat Assyriska. :)

Örebro lost 2-3 after extra time.
From what I have read Örebro were quite upset with the referees handling of the game.

Who said Graham Poll could be a ref in the Swedish league!!! I demand a replay match.
Just joking in all of this. :)

Deciding goal on a penalty at extended time (103'). Haven't seen the match, but my general view on fans that always find referee decisions to blame for their team's defeats is they are just as embarrasing as people laughing on the wrong places at the movies. Neither of them has understood what's it all about. Refereeing is an integral part of the game and and I've seen many more signs of incompetence from by strikers and defenders in my days than I have from referees.
Anyways, seems like we have two teams from Superettan and one from division 2 in the quarterfinals. I like that.

Djurgårdens IF FF - AIK...WOW! I was in Stockholm the day of the game on June 2nd I believe. Saw the headlines the next day. Down 0-3 and come back to tie it all up. Wonder if it will be a crazy match again.

Ugh. Örebro has been on a bit of bad form lately, from what I hear. This has to be a tough one to take.

Three matches today;
In the remaining match in the group of 16 Halmstad defeated Örgryte 2-1 (both teams premier division sides) and will face division 1 leaders Trelleborgs FF.
In the first QF premier division side Elfsborg predictably defeated Väsby from division 2 1-4 in an away match.
And then the upset; division 1 side Assyriska defeated premier division IFK Göteborg 4-1 at home, all Assyriska's goals in the first 20 minutes! No TV coverage, but I heard that the the stadium crew, who had the pleasant task to report any goals and other important events, were extatic over the first 20 minutes; "We're playing like Real Madrid!"

The Halmstads-Trelleborgs quarterfinal will be played on Thursday, August 28th. No date has been set for AIK-Djurgårdens. For those fans of this Stockholm derby, it could be an interesting time, as they have their yet-to-be-scheduled Swedish Cup match, as well as the return derby in the Allsvenskan on September 1. The SFF would like the semifinals to be completed on, or near September 25, with the final scheduled for November 1 at Råsunda in Stockholm.

Oh how I miss Sweden and its fotboll! :( I really need to marry a Swedish lass. Problem is, there are too many beautiful blondes to chose from, but then again that could be a good thing as long as they like fotboll. :)

According to svenskfotboll.se, the AIK-Djurgårdens quarterfinal won't be played until October 2. Remember that the final is November 1. Djurgården is the "home" team for that tie, but it still has not been decided wether the match will be played at Stockholms Stadion, which is Djurgårdens official home stadium, or at Råsunda, which is technically AIK's home, but also hosts the Stockholm derby matches between AIK, Djurgården and Hammarby. Råsunda seats about 35,000, which for this match would probably be split even between the 2 sides, with Djurgården maybe getting a bigger allocation, as they would be the home team. Stockholms Stadion would seat 14,000, and the majority there would be Djurgården supporters.
For those who are interested, and can understand Swedish, the semifinal draw will be held this Monday, the 18th, sometime between 7:30 and 8pm, Swedish time, on Radiosporten, on Swedish radio, channel P4. You can listen online, at www.sr.se Follow the link on the main page for "radiosporten", or click on the webradio icon at the top of the page, and choose P4 from the menu at the top of the pop-up window you get.

Semifinal Draw, dates and locations not yet confirmed:
Djurgården or AIK vs. Assyriska Föreningen (I believe the rule is that the lower division team hosts the match, but I'm not positive on that)
Halmstad or Trelleborg vs. Elfsborg
Semifinal winners meet in the final on November 1

Unless I accidentally gave you the Women's Cupen sheet, one thing kind of surprises me: attendance. I thought league cups in other countries were supposed to be quite popular. Seems lots of these fixtures have really spotty attendance.

Elfsborg won over Halmstad 4-0 and has reached the final.
Tonight Djurgården won over AIK with 2-1 after extra time and ended their archrivals hope of getting something out of this season. The game was marred by an incident where a match steward got his hand severly injured after trying to remove a pyrotechnical device that was thrown from the stands.
Djurgården now plays Assyriska FF for a place in the final and has a good chance repeating their double from last year.
It is true that the cup generally gets much lower attendence than regular league play in Sweden. There is no real cup tradition in Sweden like in England or Norway, both the Swedish FA and the clubs have treated the cup like an ugly stepchild.
But the intrest is much higher now then it was some 10-15 years ago when it was really patetic. Back then it was not unusually seeing attendence figurs like 3000 for the final.

Eek! Pyrotechnics! :lol It's fun to see all that stuff, but sounds frightening to be near it. We Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USA 2nd Div) supporters just beat drums and chant and leave it at that. People are even bashful with flags, as no one wants to block another's view.
Sure is a blast to watch the atmosphere on the tv4.se newsfeeds, though! I need to make it to Sweden one day.

Assyriska, who has spent most of the season in the bottom half of Superettan, met swedish champions and current Allsvenskan leaders Djurgården today. Yeah, I wouldn't have given them much chance either. Still, Assyriska chocked Djurgården and won 4-0. At Djurgårdens home arena Stockholms Stadion to that. Humiliating, to say the least.

So the November 1st final is Assyriska vs. Elfsborg. Winner goes to the UEFA Cup as well, meaning that there is a possibility that, theoretically, a team from the 1st division could represent Sweden in Europe, as Assyriska can't earn promotion this season.
