Yerba mate that is, not something else!!!
I would like to drink mate but I don't know where to buy a nice package of Rosamonte.
I am in New York City (manhattan).
Thanks.

Moishe you remember those Alfajores right? the 29th of every month is Gnocchi day!!!!!!:)
Manenas family are all from Salta and apart from the excellent pastries she makes great authentic regional cuisine as well..

if you are a beginner try these websites;
http://www.mymateworld.com/
http://www.ma-tea.com/yerba_mate/about_yerba_mate/
people drink mate many different ways , Paraguay,Uruguay, Brazil and even different areas of Argentina have their own unique way to prepare and enjoy mate;

The alfajores were good but I've always been a cañoncitos man myself. I've never made it down for gnocchi day but it sounds like it would be worth the road trip. Of course I'd have her set me up with a bunch of empanadas to bring back with:D

Like DM said, Fiesta and Carnival are the only two places I know of in Dallas. I'd actually recommend buying one on line. For not very much money you can buy some really nice sets of mate' y bombillos. Since your close to Dallas, you should try out Cafe' Zaguan on Oak Lawn. The food is awesome and not expensive at all for what is a nice place.

When I'm in the city I make pilgrimages there to get my facturas. I plan it out to where we get there in time to pick up some goodies and then head over to La Fusta for dinner. A couple of doobs and the sweets are mostly gone by the time we get back into the city.
Food is one of the biggest amongst many reasons I miss the city. Austin is great but the only connection we have to Argentine food is a place called Buenos Aires Cafe and the food is far from traditional if Argentine at all. The empanadas are decent but nothing to scream about. With a bit of training my wife will get better with her empanadas. You can only ask so much from a Belgian woman:D
