Peru chasing the dream, Ghana expectant

Peru and Ghana go head to head on Saturday for a berth in the last four at Korea 2007. For the Incas the aim will be to keep their magnificent run going by producing the same brand of solid yet fluent football that has taken them this far. The Black Starlets, meanwhile, are intent on adding another South American scalp to their tournament haul after defeating Colombia in the group phase and then knocking out Brazil.

The game
Ghana - Peru, Changwon, Saturday 1 September, 19:00 (local time)

The stakes
Having already made a sizeable impression in the group phase, Ghana created an even bigger splash when they downed favourites Brazil in the Round of 16. For their part, Peru had a hard time shaking off Tajikistan in the driving rain of Suwon and only squeezed through after a nerve-jangling penalty shootout.

The players
The bad news for Ghana is that they will be without defender Francis Boadi after he was sent off for two yellow-card offences against the Brazilians. The good news is that Philip Boampong and Enoch Adu have both completed their suspensions and are available for selection again. Peru also welcome back a key performer in central defender Jairo Hernandez, and their only injury casualty is Jersi Socola, who remains sidelined after limping off in their opening game.

The past
It is a case of Peru revisited for the two teams as they renew the rivalry they began at the previous FIFA U-17 World Cup. On that occasion the duo shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, a result that served little purpose for either side, both of them exiting the competition in the group phase.

The words
"Our morale is very high after beating Brazil. Everything is going really well for us at the moment and we're determined to perform at our very best against Peru and defeat them. I know they are a team with an exceptional player in Reimond Manco, but if we can stop him I think we'll have a great chance." Paul Addo, Ghana captain.

"I'm working on our tactics for the match against Ghana by watching the video of their game with Brazil. I know they're a very powerful side but obviously they've got weaknesses that we'll be looking to exploit. I can't say we are going to win, but I'm sure we'll show what we're capable of." Juan Jose Ore, Peru coach.

Strategy will be counter-attack
