Sheringham told the Sunday Times: "Do you remember when he slid on his knees after scoring the winning goal in the European final? Well, that's when he felt it. I remember him coming in after the game when everyone was celebrating and saying, 'I think I've hurt my knee'. And since then he's had a problem. It's a shame. He's a fantastic lad and probably the best all-round finisher I ever played with.
"Now people will look at that and say, 'What? Better than Shearer? Better than Klinsmann?' But in terms of right foot, left foot and heading, he knew exactly where the goal was. He would put the ball through people's legs and in the corners. Brilliant."

If he hurt his knee celebrating that goal (which seems extremely unlikely), that is one of the most ironic occurences ever.

I've heard that said before but it seems a bit silly since I don't recall him having serious troubles with it till a few seasons later.

Exactly. That sounds silly - he had some of his most productive years after that game.

I think that Ole has said himself that that was the first time he felt his knee hurt... but don't quote me on it.

Yeah... doesnt necessarily mean he blew his knew out, he porobably would have tweaked it and played through it. Then he injured it more severely later in his career...

Maybe we should stop Rooney from doing that then, I mean that.

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is stepping up his role in bringing the brightest young Norwegian hopefuls to Old Trafford.
The Mail on Sunday says Solskjaer has bought a substantial property in the Manchester area to accommodate young hopefuls from Norway while they are on trial at the club.

Ole seems to be determined to ensure that the best Norwegian talent ends up at OT.:)

Didnt we win that one at the very end and the crowd went wild and jumped onto the pitch ?

Also p.neville scored an own goal

Edit : Ole (of a pass from tweety) lobbed the ball over the villa defender and then squeezed it through p.schmeichel(villa) legs.

(Dagbladet.no):

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been named a 1st class Knight of the St. Olav's order. The 34 year-old is among the youngest who have ever received the royal title, which is usually given to significantly older contributors to society.

The reception was carried out in secrecy and hasn't been officially confirmed by the Castle, but Dagladet has had the title confirmed from several independent sources.

Even though it's only weeks since the 34 year-old from Kristiansund hung his boots up as a player, it is not for his efforts for Manchester United and the national side that's behind the title. It's his exertions for the community and his status as a role model, among other things his endeavours as a Unicef-ambassador, which have impressed king Harald.

Allegedly there's a bigger ceremony planned in his hometown, Kristiansund, in conjunction with the title, before he's headed towards the Castle for an audience with the king. .

Solskjær is the youngest non-regal recipient of the ordercross (that's the shape of the medal one's given, I presume), which has been given earlier this year to people like the writer Herbjørg Wassmo (64), Dagblad-drawer Finn Graff (68), and supreme court barrister Jan Einar Greve (74)

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is impressing in his role as new strikers coach.

"Ole has been working with the forwards and alongside Rene Meulensteen, our technical skills development coach," Ferguson told Inside United.
"He's started with the first team, and he's just building his confidence as a coach.
"He was always in the dressing room as one of the players and all of a sudden he's a coach. "But he's doing great, we're really pleased with him."
