Did you know that Kewell scored as many goals as Robert Pires (who was admittedly injured some of the season), Paul Scholes (ManU sucks), and Nicholas Anelka? Kewell had more Premier league goals (14) than Hamann, Gerrard, and Murphy (total of 13) combined. This while playing for a horrid Leeds team. While Harry is not yet a Liverpool player, hopefully he soon will be. The rumor is that he will take Smicer's #7 jersey. Does this mean the end of Smicer? Is anyone else as excited about the upcoming season as I am? While we struggled a lot last year, Kewell adresses our lack of width (at least for the left hand side) and Finnan helps in attack. These 2 signings seem MUCH better than the signings of Diouf, Cheyrou, and Diao.

Yeh, I've been watching young Harry these past few seasons and I've been impressed. He used to like to take the ball wide and run at the defense. Something we need at Anfield.
This past season I notice that he's coming inside more, and scoring more often, quite a few with his head.
I hadn’t realized how many until you pointed it out.
I’ve liked watching him play and once when I mentioned that he’d do well with the team I got the impression from the response that he was a bit of a ‘prima donna.’
How true is that?

And what’s your story. No team, No city, No posts since 2001, What’s up?

I would guess he'd take the open #11 shirt...

The saga of Kewell continues. There was going to be a press conference today, now there's not. Rumor is it may be Leeds with a last minute disagreement. We'll see.

In the hopes he does end up a Red: Very exciting. I can see the possibilities already with Kewell bringing the ball inside, leaving Riise to come up wide-left with options. This is what we've needed! Now if Owen just had a consistent strike partner.

With Kewell seemingly on board, does this mean our beloved Heskey goes to the bench? (note: Sarcasm font 'on')

Today's Fiver:

KEW II

According to those in the know, who insisted Harry Kewell would join Liverpool this morning, Harry Kewell will join Liverpool tonight. That's because Harry Kewell didn't join Liverpool this morning. Or rather he didn't announce his move to Anfield during a sub-Beckhamesque pre-recorded interview on Australian television as planned. Instead, once he'd melodramatically uttered the words "I've decided to join...", Channel Nine froze the film and replaced his mouth with a spinning question mark.

But while this proves the graphical genius who designed the title sequence for 1979 Yorkshire TV smash Winner Takes All is alive, well and still in gainful employment, it doesn't explain why the move has hit the buffers. According to some, Leeds are holding out for all of their GBP7m at once, rather than in instalments. Others say Chel$ki's of Chel$ea of Chechnya have come in with a late megabucks bid. While we reckon Harry hasn't finished reading his Bluffers Guide To Becoming A Lifetime Kopite In 24 Hours book yet.

But Liverpool fans shouldn't be too downheartened (unless they're thinking about Mr Em, in which case get those hot taps running and let the pain flow out) because Kewell has insisted the move is still on. "It feels great to have the deal but I haven't signed it yet," he said. "But I'm not going to change my mind and hopefully they won't change theirs." Of course, this doesn't actually prove anything at all, but everyone in the know says that he's referring to Liverpool. And their word is as good as anyone's, right?

Apparently, he wants payment for a loyalty clause in his Leeds contract, and they want to ignore it since he's, er, leaving.

I hope they can get that settled.

Sort of Off-Topic, but whatever happened to the previous Leeds manager, David O'Leary?

Bloody scousers :)! I'd like to see you get Kewell over Duffman (OH YEAH!) just to thwart Arsenals plans... and it may make your matches watchable next season ;), why not revert to the Roy Evans "AAAAATTTAAACCCKKK" system?

Yea, I wish ManU could've done as well a Liverpool last year... but unfortunatey, no League Cup for us, we've got to settle for the Premiership.

Give my regards to Hadjuk Split & the lads in the UEFA cup, though
