So you're an FCD fan and you're cruising around other teams' forums here at BigSoccer and you see something extraordinarily silly written in one of those forums, but you don't want to respond there because other teams' forums' moderators aren't as easygoing [snicker] as our. Well, cut and paste the silliness and post here.

I'll start it off. This gem is an excerpt from a thread in the Gals' forum noting that their team is, well, crap and how to make it better:

Step 4: Stick it to the league
This is key. AEG needs to take it to the league. They aren't the only owner, but they have a lot of weight, and they've done a lot for the league. The pitch goes something like this: If the other owners feel they won't to go it alone, then I guess they can. But AEG should strongly suggest that If LA doesn't win, if Donovan is forced out by some poorly thought out rules, then the fans won't come out. AEG's not going to go broke. They can have plenty of concerts and X-games at the HDC year round and still turn a profit. The Galaxy can fold or move to San Jose. They've already made some quick cash on Becks. I'm sure AEG and Becks could come to some amendable agreement where they break his contract and he heads back to England or some other league where Jesse Marsh won't be doing there Karate Kid impressions. OR maybe the league would consider it's in its best interest to work something out where they'd be rewarded for all the interest (and money) they've helped generate. Like maybe this list of demands OR ELSE:

The most favorable schedule you can possilby come up with.
A new rule, I don't care what it is, that says we keep LD as long as he wants.
And while were at it, how about a larger salary cap so we can outspend the little guys some - you know, just for some depth to play all of these great Superliga games.

Now, maybe the air's a little thinner here 22 points above you chumps and that's affecting my thinking, but I'm thinking that if you had a front office and coaching staff that weren't complete doofuses with respect to personnel issues, you might not need a bigger salary cap.

do you think this is silly? I think this is more frightening than silly, because these are demands that I can easily see the league acceding to. the Galaxy actually are pure evil, and they will stop at nothing until they have achieved total domination of the league, the planet, and then the far reaches of space itself. they didn't name themselves that for no reason, you know.

Oh like LA are the only ones with that ideal. The Galaxy, Kim Jong-Il, Republicans, Rachel Ray, the list is endless.

You forgot Bozo the Clown, Mark Cuban, and Dr. Evil (nice to know he comes cheap... one MILLION dollars just isn't that much, these days...)

Probably the most shocking thing about this thread is that a Houston fan's quote didn't lead it off, since they're mostly a pack of drooling retards. However, you don't have to wait long:
really doe, how does the most whitebread fanbase end up with 3 brasilians, a colombian, 2 argentines, a salvadoreno, a guatamalteco, a liberian, a ghanian and so much else on their team. all though it doesn't matter to the inferno there just a bunch of mexicans. you think deep down inside all these guys despise the inferno?

I think the bigger question is how a team in Major League Soccer, playing in Houston, ends up with a roster with not a single Latino player on it. I guess that Dominic Kinnear and John Spencer think that Latinos are only good for mowing the grass at their college football stadium.

When "1836" hit the fan, Sylvia Garcia made some negative comments about using "1836", some Houston posters posted messages in the Hotown forum that would have made the KKK blush. The unfortunate part, the mods deleted them and now Dynaho fans have collective amnesia about those ugly racist remarks.

I could not agree more with t_attakz. it's obviously a rhetorical question, and the answer is "nobody who matters."

Repped, for you speak truth.

A Houscum fan is right about something? Could this be a sign of the coming apocalypse?

This is the stupidest thin I have ever read in my life!
You look at the history of soccer or sports in general and you can always pinpoint what made that sport or team become so successful. Some teams is various sports have had their teams there for most of the 1900's so people growing up in those area follow and love their teams and sports.

Soccer does not have this type of history in the US. There is not one soccer team that has a tradition like the Boston Celtics, NY Yankees, or Greenbay Packers.

But, there is an alternative to put soccer over the top here in the US. If you look at the history of soccer, the game was frowned upon in many of the countries where the British occupied. In many parts of the world, the game became popular because the natives wanted to beat the British in their own game. If you were a native you supported one team and if you were British, you supported your team. Rivalries were built this way and it is rivalries that make soccer the huge global success that it is today.

Fast forward to today and rivalries in soccer are the biggest viewed sporting events in the world. Look at the Rivalries between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Celtic FC and Rangers FC, Boca vs. River Plates. These are huge games that make the entire nation watch their matches.

We don't have anything of the sort here in the US. Okay, we have mild rivalries here and there, but nothing to write home. But this can change over night if we get some people up top to conspire.

The one issue that divides this country right now is the same issue that can make soccer into an overnight success. That issue is politics POLITICS. Now, I don't want to make this into a political pissing match. But, man does this subject have wheels for the MLS.

Think about it. You get at least 1 team supported by democrats and another team that supports republicans. Before you know it, you'll have European intensity right here in the states. People from all walks of life will come out of the woodworks for this rivalry in the US and it will be the spark that makes soccer big in the US.

See for many people around the world, soccer is more than a sport because it represents many issues for people outside of the pitch. Here in the US, it's just a sport with nothing significant attached to it.

You put politics next to soccer and you put meaning behind the beautiful game in the US.

The Republican team would consist of 11 strikers because it's better to attack them there, than have to defend on your own soil/half. The FO would claim to be fiscally responsible, but somehow hemorrhage money until they go under, all the while still claiming that the Democrats would spend more, were they in charge of the team. They would also force the players to purchase their own kit. There's also a high probability that the team itself would never change, no matter how old the players got, as those in charge don't believe in evolution.

Meanwhile, Team Democrat would defend nicely when they are the underdog, but should they sneak the lead they would forget all tactics and shape and end up just imitating Team 'Pub until their fans lose all confidence in the team again. Despite previous problems with the management, succesive GMs would be more and more unlikeable/useless. Also, despite early signs of strength, each season would end with a slump that makes FCD's look like barely a blip. Fans would often complain of the Republican team cheating. These claims would either be wildly inaccurate, completely unprovable, and/or met with a response of "Yeah, so what?".

Yeah, I agree. I've seen some dumb things on messageboards in my time, but this has to be well up there.

The following political message is meant only in good homor and is not to be taken seriously:

If any team in MLS would fit the Democrats FC it would be the LA Galaxy. Here me out...

The Democrats try to get the vote out to young college students that really don't know what they are talking about, they show up to the concerts that the DNC put together, but never actually wake up on voting day to vote.
The Galaxy hired Beckham to gain a huge fanbase of young girls that have no clue about professional soccer, they show up to scream at the top of their lungs, but add absolutely nothing to the atmosphere for LA.

http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif Ronaldinho to LA! An irrational, spastic off-season thread
Our billionaire can beat up your billionaire!

Anschutz: $7.8 billion
Abramovitch: $21 billion

Hmm, OK, maybe not!
But Phil is way smarter than Roman, and Lalas could kick Peter Kenyon's ass in a bar fight or a press conference duel.

So all we have to is ship Cannon to SJ for their DP, then pay Barca $100 million for Ronnie and sign him to a five-year, $150 million contract.

Dump Lando off on Flamengo and finagle the allocation we get to sign Brian McBride and Bobby Convey.

Then:

McBride
Ronnie---Martino
Convey--Beckham--Klein
Randolph-Xavier-Roberts-Albright
Whoever

Boo-yah!

The beauty of this is, by doubling down his Becks bet with a Ronnie bet, Anschutz would actually be leveraging the return even more. Because even if one of them is out with an injury, you still have a world-tour worthy squad with the other one. And their collective fan gravitation in the expanding Asian markets means LA Galaxy will become the favorite team of tens of millions from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo!

Plus, we will be a lock to win the Club World Championship in 09.

This may be the POTY, enjoy...

How hard is to understand cricket?

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

If you can't understand that, you really are an idiot.
