goltv did not listen to any of us. they're still using their own "talent" instead of passing on the feed audio for the spanish league this year.

What an unfortunate turn of events.

I tuned into the Sevilla - Getafe match, heard that it was GolTV's in house team and turned the channel. If I didn't get GolTV in the same package as FSC, I would have cancelled it right after Copa America.

What happened to their telecast of Real Madrid -Atletico Madrid? First it was to be shown live, then it was to be shown on 4-hour delay. I'm sure it was WorldSportHD who pulled the plug, but at least we could get some information from GOLTV instead of tuning into repeats of the Bundesliga games without explanations.

Incidentally, speaking of in studio announcers, I thought that FSC was going to use them for their coverage of Serie A, but I was pleasantly surprised by the call of both today's games by European announcers.

I just checked an updated listing and the game has been completely removed from the GOLTV schedule....last year, at least it would have been shown on a one-day delay

We would have shown the match, but because of internal conflicts between the rightholders in Spain, the TV production trucks were not even present at the stadium. The game wasn't televised. (the entire Spain herself was left without TV for that game). Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

That's pretty stupid. You missed a great game.

Right, blame eveything on GOLTV.Whole world didn't see the game. Only way was to see the game-> on PPV in Spain.Oh ,yeah second half was on SopCast.
As for announcers,If you don't like them, just shut-off TV's volume, and you good to go.I like their in studio people, and as far as i know i am not the only one.So ,either way one party won't be happy.Better you than me.

I had other options that mattered more. If it was a game that I cared more about such as the Madrid derby or a Prem game then I would have watched it. I just don't need to sit through what I consider to be poor announcing when I can watch something of equal quality.

He obviously didn't know that it was more than just a GolTV problem. I also didn't know that it wasn't their problem and was less than pleased when I turned to the channel to see a Bundesliga repeat without an explanation, I also checked their website and there was no explanation there either. I don't think asking them to let people know either on their website or on screen is too much to ask.

Actually there was a little ticker at the bottom that said there was a problem with the game that came up occasionally.

Thank you Constantino....whatever the reason, all I ask is to be informed why.

Who specifically is affected...in other words, will any of the other La Liga games you will be showing this weekend be affected by this dispute?

PS. Great move on getting the two Champions League qualifiers. Hope you do more of the same (UEFA cup, etc.)

Actually, I was watching Bundesliga this morning, so I did not keep the repeat broadcasts on....I was hoping the website would let me know what was happening...

I believe this is a case of someone (you) jumping to conclusions...

1, I was not jumping on GOLTV for not having the game on, but I felt I should be informed WHY it was preempted.

2. I PREFER the announcers at the source to the in-studio announcers, but I do not dislike GOLs studio guys, and find it even more ridiculous that someone considers the broadcast unwatchable when they are calling the game. It is just that generally I find a better overall perspective, especially regarding the "lesser known" team in the match (as opposed to the 'marquee' team) when the originating broadcasters do the match.

Probably yes, I'm still waiting to hear something about the Barcelona game. At this moment, apparently the Valencia vs. Villarreal game is assured, the Barca they still don't know. This was a big deal worldwide and in Spain as well, so we hope this rights holders row is solved rapidly. I'm sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused all of you, I had arranged my own weekend to sit and enjoy the Madrid derby and I understand how frustrating it was.

If I didn't get GolTV in the same package as FSC, I would have cancelled it right after Copa America.

I just wanted to echo this.

I don't really think it would be worth it to pay for a channel that only sometimes uses good (Euro-based) announcers, and the randomness of when the good ones are on the air.

FSC, for their English matches, always uses Euro-based ones, so that channel, and that league, is the main league/channel combo I watch.

I've tuned away from FSC and GolTV more often than not when the match commentator is Bretos, Schoen, Dean or Sullivan. I'm sure I've miss a lot of otherwise good matches, but I'm ok with that, because I didn't listen to sub-standard commentating. If the guys mentioned above could just let the match breathe some, and stop treating each broadcast as an opportunity to lecture me, I'd appreciate it. Oh, and stop using stupid fake-ass accents.

I would never not watch a game because of the commentary. That's what the mute button is for. The only time I turned off a match was the LA-Chelsea game, because I couldn't stomach all the BS surrounding the match (showing the celebs in the stands while the match is running etc.)

Thanks.

A minute ago we had confirmation that the Racing vs. Barcelona game will NOT be televised either.

I think this is further proof that collective television rights are the way to go.

Thanks for the update, and I'd also echo the general sentiment that I prefer Euro-based commentators for Euro-based games.

Why would you have waited until after Copa America...after all, it was GOLTV's in-house team doing the Copa America broadcasts as well. And it appears it is not what is going on down on the pitch that is important to you, it is who is in the booth upstairs. Incidentally, I hear that the announcer on the poker championships is very good, perhaps you should go listen to that "sport" on tv.

I tend to agree with you. I hope that these people who cannot bear to watch a game if the announcer is based over here are exaggerating to make a point to those broadcasters so that they may change to all European announcers, but I'm afraid they are serious. Fortunately, soccer fans, and not these people, are primarily interested in what's going down on the pitch. Does a good announcer enhance the game experience? Of course, it does, but if the product is not there on the field, it would not be worth watching no matter who is calling the game.

While I generally prefer the European-based announcers, there are quite a few who can be criticized for the way they call a game as well. Yesterday, while watching the Juventus match, I felt like telling the announcer, "Okay, I get it...Juve felt it was hell being in Serie B. How many times do you have to repeat yourself?". And Setanta's announcers on Ligue 1 (much worse than the originating announcers who do the game) sound like they're doing the audience a favor by staying awake to call the game. It must even be said that even though I like the Euro-based La Liga announcers, once you get past Paul Breen Turner, you are dealing with broadcasters whose command of English is incomplete, and who often struggle to finish sentences that they begin. (On the other hand, all Euro-based Bundesliga announcers that I have heard have been excellent. When an in-house announcer does a German game, I am disappointed, but if it was a game I wanted to see, I would watch it anyway).

What an unfortunate turn of events.

Did any of you fools check the real GolTV channel - that is, the one en Espanol ??

Probably, you would find the original feed audio for the broadcast there...

Duh, not the English Premier League, is it ?
