Here's a good article profiling Run DMB and his history of success from the U17's to his recent Rangers transfer:
http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/clubfootball/news/newsid=579206.html#little+beasley
"Generously listed at 5-foot eight-inches (1.73 m) and 145 pounds (66 kg) in official US Soccer Federation literature, the reality of DaMarcus Beasley's frame is something considerably less substantial. In person, the jet-heeled winger looks more an underfed teenager than a top-tier footballer.
Despite his physical shortcomings, the oft-abused little Beasley has spent the last six years tormenting more massive markers with pace, remarkable dribbling ability and a never-say-die attitude that belies his boyish vitals."

Cheers!

Althought just a fluff piece, it really is a flattering article. I'm not the biggest DMB fan, but it's nice to see him recognized like this.

He's got good speed but, to be honest, his dribbling ability is pretty poor and hardly 'remarkable.' Unless the remark you make about it is ... that it's poor. ;)

Hey, I tip my hat to anyone who can keep the ball at his feet while going full speed the way Bease does.

Good press on our Yanks Abroad is nothing but good. We need more pros across the world. I'm optimistic for WCs 2010-2026.

does it say anything about him being one of the most technically deficient players in the usmnt pool of players?

Seriously people, just become Brazil fans. Don't denigrate one of our most successful players on here unless you can come up with someone better from our country in our pool at that position and should have been profiled instead.
Just go to another forum and post about how magnificent Kaka's touch is, or whatever. A positive article on a good player who plays his heart out for us shows up on Fifa.com, and you all rush to insult him. Honestly, what is your goal? What on earth is accomplished by that sort of vitriol. Maybe you should have been in the stands of the Champions League game making monkey chants instead of on this board.

yes because pointing out flaws in a players game is somehow in the level of insensitivity and as innapropriate as outright racism. interesting thought. maybe he should listen to some criticism of his game and work on his touch and become a better player. seriously though, his touch is awful.

Your probably right. He has never worked on it. I will make sure to tell him hairynippleman's criticism and hopefully you will be credible enough in his eyes to finally after all these years work on it.

And then you can tell Walter Smith about it and he will have an epiphany and realize he knows less about the game then hairynippleman and drop Beas immediately.
People forget that for all his imperfections DMB gets by people on a regular basis and makes them chase him the whole game. He may miss chances but he creates quite a bit more than your average player as well (not to mention free kicks in good palces). Clearly, some coaches think it is a talent worth hundreds of thousands of euros a year.

I don't have a problem with constructive criticism in the right place...but the criticism here isn't constructive, it's vitriolic bile with no acknowledgement of his good attributes.
"Yay, FIFA featured an article praising Beas"
"Yeah well they're stupid because they don't know he sucks"
That's something a Mexico fan would say. No, "yes he is a good player but...." it's just sheer negativity.
And I didn't mean the monkey chant comment to come off how it did - my apologies - I was just making a reference to ugly behavior by "fans".

Beasely isn't world class, but who is in our pool? He was the best player on the pitch in the final few matches of last season's EPL. It should also be said that Beasely, for all his faults, can pull off a better shot than virtually all of our pool, with both feet. I'd rather watch Beasely play for Rangers than pretty much any US player (for MLS or whatever bottom table EPL, second tier league side our guys are playing for). Malign Beasely all you want, but know that you are implicitly denigrating the entire USMNT side, and far more severely. The irony here is that Beasely will likely be the most successful US position player this season. But whatever, come visit this congratulatory thread and complain about Beasely's touch.

he's failed everywhere in europe so far... he'll fail again with rangers. eventually his novelty wears off and beasley's time is up.

Overall I like DmB. I think he is one of our better players when, like Donovan, he is aware that there is a game going on around him. He has a tendency to turn off sometimes. That being said, I'm happy to see a decent article on a Nat. However, at the end I found a factual error that keeps appearing. It appeared earlier in the summer as well (unfortunately I do not have links). The factual error is this:
Already with a certain distaste for green, inspired by over six years of epic USA-Mexico dust-ups, this summer Beasley recently helped the Americans to their fourth CONCACAF Gold Cup crown with a win over the bitter rivals to the south. In winning his second continental crown (he was top scorer when the US won in 2005), he brought his career caps to 69 and his total goals tally to 15, remarkable for a flank player, and doubly so for a young man so deceptively slight and insignificant.
Am I the only one who remembers the 2002 Gold Cup? Held in January? In Los Angeles? We won it? DmB scored that MONSTER goal against SK in stoppage time during the opening match? Anyone?
Considering it was a FIFA tournament (being champions we proceeded to the 2003 Confederations Cup in France), don't you think they would have had that in their files??
I know asking FIFA to be factually correct is like asking Britney to stay home with her kids for a night, but come on.
