according to Jose, we are done shopping, but one player may leave. I hope it's not Ferreira.

We were willing to pay Crespos wages while he was at another club on loan.
We were willing to let Crespo go without asking for a transfer fee.
We were willing to pay Verons wages while he was at another club on loan.
We were willing to let Veron go without asking for a transfer fee.
We made significant losses on Duff, Del Horno among others.
We paid £30 million for a striker with knee problems approaching 30 years old.

And yet we sign a 31 year old Barca reject as our rightback, missing out on our original target (Which we pursued for just under a month) who will now likely be bought by someone else.

I'm all for us balancing the books and such but at least sort out all the other ******** ups first.

That'll be Johnson, he doesn't mention him once in his press conference comments regarding right backs.

I suspect that he is talking about Ferreira.
We now have four options for natural RB's and unless we loan out Diarra, I think that PF is gone (maybe to Barca?).

From this he went straight on to talk about Belletti.

Mourinho had words of support for one of his existing right-backs.
'Paulo [Ferreira] is a player that I trust very much. Paulo is with me for six consecutive years and everything that I have won, he has won with me.
'From the defensive point of view he is a safe player. The reason why I wanted to bring in a different right-back is Chelsea this season is a different team, as everyone can feel.
'There is a different philosophy of playing so I felt I needed something different on the right, but no doubts, Paulo is a player that I love and I trust.'

JM seems to like Belletti as the attacking RB compared to Ferreria as the "safe" RB.

Does not seem to spell good things for GJ.

more on the Alves saga, looks like we put the money up and Del Nido wanted more

Well, where's GJ going then?
Are we gonna loan him back to Pompey?

Don't think so either keep or sell him.

rant: money is not the issue really. but our seasons signings have been poor ones. Sure the Peruvian may be better than Kezman, but is he really going to be better than Eidur? Sure Malouda isn't a bad player, but he's not as good as Robben, is he really any better than Duff was? Sheva has done less for this team (so far) than Crespo. Our 3rd choice CB Alex? Well he is a good young CB, but he is nowhere near the quality of Gallas is he, we really don't know if he's going to be better than Huth at this point. The 31 year old former Barca reserve RB:confused: We might as well have kept Geremi as an attacking rb?

Overall it has been disappointing. We're buying older players. Why bother buying all these lads over 30? We're buying players who might be good squad players, but just lack a dynamic spark.

wondering if Alex is better than Huth? Monkee, that is laughable.

Thanks, saved me a similar rant. Hard to argue we have improved after the 2nd recent title. The best bit of business over the last year would have been to do nothing perhaps. Shame Duff left for pt when with all the injuries he would have played all the time if he stayed and avoided the barcode injury jinx.

I think Malouda is going to do well but Sinclair is the best bit of our summer business.

sorry to point out the obvious, but our old "reserve" players were not happy being reserve players, thats why the majority of them left- Duff, Guddy, Parker, Huth, etc. The players we have signed as reserve players now seem to have a better understanding of their role, and although I am sure they want to be in the first XI, are more understanding if they are left on the subs bench.

Its not like those players have gone on to be worldbeaters folks. We shed those players at the right time, sad as it may be to say. Honestly, what would we do with Parker now?

And to be honest Gudjohnson didn't do that well at Barca either last season.

Not saying it was all unavoidable just making the point that we have not improved and aurguably reversed a bit through our business the last 12-18 months.

A bit of a chicken and egg story but do Gud and Duff want to leave if instead of buying Sheva, Ballack and Kalou we bump their salary a bit. If they don't leave do they stay healthy and perform better in our accustomed to system?

Gallas I don't want to reaurgue but if we bump his 1/3 of the other untouchables salary a year earlier is he still here performing like a beast negating the rb weakness when necesary while whinging quarterly.

If come here my precious keynon does not override Jose and keeps Huth until we find another cb, or buys Ben Haim or any cb in January are we still champions?

If we simply make Crespo stay and complain, none the less he was always a professional on the pitch, are we better off?

If come here my precious keynon bumps Robben's salary or ties bonuses to appearences a month ago when Robben says he wants to stay does he?

I'm not saying I said it then because I was excited to see 2 of my favorite players come to Chelsea in Sheva and Ballack but they may end up being the worst bit of business we have done since Veron.

If come here my precious keynon had read my e-mail:D and we had paid City for Micah the 12 million they wanted last year or the 17 million they supposedly wanted last season would we be worrried about rb?

I don't want to see us spend stupid money but we are seeming to go overboard in the wrong direction kind of like the company that has great morale and gives out great incentives but after one sluggish quarter takes it all away and tells employees to write notes and memos on both sides of the paper and wonders why productivity and morale decline.

We seem to be worried more about appearences and marketing then product which is a bit worrisome We are chasing good press not understanding that it will simply not come until a new crop of journalists that are used to our , not manure, arse, or bindippers dominence takes over.

The key being dominence and success on the pitch has to come first and it wont come on the cheap, , especially by being too tight with players that are already ours, nor will it be accepted or celebrated in the media for a good long while.

Leaving aside why or whether it could have been avoided, hard to aurgue we are better through our business, anywhere but in central midfield.

Wow, I really really have dreaded this entire transfer season, what a complete muck up.
