ManCity Ranked #10 on the Power Rankings in Sports Illustrated.
Seems a bit premature, but you have to love the 'cred our team is getting.
I would def. put our team in the Top 10 for the UK.

Wow really?
Sports Illustrated covers football?
LOL. Good call CB.
Honestly, I think it shows how much they know, I would class us Top 6 AT BEST in England. And that's a fair stretch at best.... Although .. 2nd best club in England sure does sound good :D

this is way too early for this kind of speculation and ranking. i hate it.
1. it puts pressure on the players
2. people will be laughing at us if we don't fulfil expectations
3. we haven't accomplished anything yet
4. top 10? are you insane?
let's wait and see how this season goes before we talk about these kind of things. it's a strategy to be perceived as the underdog

These rankings are typically based heavily on 'current' results, not actual talent but still this was a HUGE shock when I stumbled upon it. SI.com does actually have some good real 'football' writing. Its not the best spot compared to the bbc and others, but they have a couple worthwhile columns.

6 weeks 4 victories. CLASS!! We didn't get 4 Victories last year till Mid November!!! This team has improved. And it has less to do with money. And more to do with EVERYTHING else. We may not be world top 10, but Hamman is a new man. Richards is the best in the galaxy. We don't have Pearce anymore. We do have Sven. Johnson is the new Barton. Vassel and Mpenza are huslting like crackheads. Ireland and Nedum show promise. And all these the preceding improvments really have nothing to do with the 50 million spent on new players. GOOD TIMES!!!

Easy guys........... Easy,
Let us not get excited too soon. Aston Villa, Derby, and West Ham are all weak teams and two of those 3 victories were home wins. Man Utd was the only victory worthy of mentioning thus far. Let's wait a bit longer before we get excited.

Aston Villa Weak? Tell that to Chelsea.

That is a joke. Derby weak. Villa I would have to believe is better than Tottenham this year and probably w/ Everton give us a run at the 5th-6th spots in league. West Ham seems weak to me, but they already have 10 points and sit well in the table.
Check your facts... We should've drawn with Arsenal, and Blackburn are always a tough team at home (esp. to the citizens).
I'm not proclaiming that we'll break the Big 4, but we will challenge for Europe (UEFA) this year. Hopefully a 6-8th spot.

West Ham is surprisingly doing well so far this year, but they barely stayed out of relegation last year so I am not too convinced that they are for real yet. I'll take your word that Villa is better Tottenham this year. Tottenham has been strong for the past 3 years and I am not sure why they're struggling of late.
Damn right we should have drawn Arsenal, we played amazing in that game. The loss to Blackburn was a dissapointment. I am just as happy as you are about City's recent success. I am just saying that the sample size is too small to get too excited so soon.
I agree with you that finishing 6-8 is a strong possibility, and we may even finish better than that given a little luck here and there.

This is honestly the most retarded inaccurate list I have ever seen.

Forget about lists, we are not a world football power. We've won 4 games out of 6 - Great start but if we think like that then we will all be disappointed and the pressure put on the players will be immense. The last two seasons we have finished 15th and 14th, narrowly avoiding relegation. Barcelona is a world football power having won their league and champions league in the same season a couple of years ago. Winning 4 games out of 6 doesnt even come close I'm afraid but under Sven we can improve a great great deal. Not Champions League yet because the big 4 will remain the top 4 teams in the Premiership, our squad doesn't really compare to theirs still in terms of depth. Elano looks world-class and Richards and Dunne are but lets not get ahead of ourselves. A step forward is what we want this year which is a top 10 finish. Where we are now in the table will look a lot different to how it looks in May and I think we will be in and around the European places, but Champions League is unrealistic but Sven can do it in the years to come.

That's exactly what I am saying. Easy on the expectations and you won't be dissapointed. Also, if you want a world class team, you gotta be a world class fan. Getting excited winning 4 out of 6 is not being a world class fan. After City wins 40 out of 60, that's when we could get excited. I don't think Barcelona fans will get excited after winning 4 out of 6. Nevertheless, a great start to the season, let's just leave it at that.

I have to agree:
First, Johnson will be more than a Joey Barton, he will more than likely be starting on England if he develops right. Johnson is phenomenal for his age and Barton himself even saw Johnson as a youth who will "flourish".
Second, if we hold on to Micah Richards, Petrov, and Elano(not to mention that he is one of the first Brazilians to play for City) and not send them off to the biggies, we will at least stay in the top half of the table.
Third, Eriksson is one of the most respected managers, and he has forged a quality team in under 6 months, think about the next 2 years.
I wouldn't say City is in the top 10 in the world, but we definately stand a chance of growing if we keep down this path.

Also, if u noticed...they put Sevilla as number 3. Sevilla is pretty damn good, but they are not the 3rd best team in the world.
