Sorry everyone, been away a bit. Many good home teams playing at home, time to make hay.
Los Angeles 2.35 l 3.28 l 3.30 Chivas
THe book on this one is that LA doesn't lose at home with Beckham. LA also has not played at home much. LA also beats Chivas regardless of who is the designated "home" team. In this case LA is the "home" team. I still think Chivas is a better team and will finish above LA in the West standings. I think they win here somehow overcoming a better Chivas defense in a rare home game in league. Set your DDR/VCRs
LA@2.35
Chicago 2.30 l 3.25 l 2.92 Kansas City
KC has 4 points lifetime in games played in Chicago at any level in any competition. KC likely will be saddled by the return to the lineup of Marinelli (suspended for yellows Wed.). KC was much more fluid without him. KC was also a bit lucky (although clearly the better team) last night as one goal came from a non-call of the ball being fully over the sideline. Chicago stopped playing and KC drive to the net and scored. The arguement for KC is that CHI allows way too many opportunities late in games and takes too many cards against teams with movement and speed like KC. A CHI defender took a red and Burciaga for KC is suspended for yellow accumulation. Defenses will be stretched. Take the over. Take CHI.
CHI@2.3
Toronto 2.63 l 3.20 l 2.54 DC United
DC on 4 straight wins and TOR is still a little short through injuries and players coming back to fitness. I hope I'm wrong, but even at BMO dc will win this one.
DC@2.54
New England 2.00 l 3.25 l 3.70 New York
NE at home, NY allowing more penetration than a Times Square....never mind.
NE@2.0
Houston 1.73 l 3.40 l 5.06 Columbus
Champions have returned to form. Ching is back scoring and that always means wins for whatever jersey he wears. CLB is a step down in competition of last. The argument for CLB is that HOU may treat this as an automatic 3 points. CLB does have a style that HOU hasn't seen lately. HOU should be able to adjust and take all 3 points.
HOU@1.73
Sun Chivas 1.53 l 3.80 l 6.57 Salt Lake
Chivas at home and RSL on the road. Don't worry about the Thursday/Sunday strain here, Chivas is very fit and young. Chivas took it to KC last time in their last Sunday game, and both CHV's contests are at HDC. Plus it is RSL away - winless in 13 straight MLS games away, including all 7 so for in '07.
CHV@1.53
Colorado 2.20 l 3.25 l 3.54 Los Angeles
I like Colorado to run LA all over on the huge field at altitude and win by the odd goal. LA comes off the emotional derby with Chivas, has to travel, and there is no air in Denver. LA might be the better team, but COL is playing better, especially at home, and LA's travels and schedule has been nothing short of brutal of late. It takes a bite here.
