I just happen to have an overnight layover in Barcelona on 10/14 and am really tempted to go to this game. (I really didn't plan it.)

Does anyone know who plays for Catalonia? Also, and this is asking a lot, how easy is it to get to Nou Camp from the airport Renaissance Hotel?

Thanks!

If you've coincidentally got a layover in Barcelona, the day the US plays at the Nou Camp, I don't see how you could not go.

As far as the Catalonia team goes, check out their wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalonia_national_football_team). Some big names play for them and the team has a lot of pride.

Catalonia is not even a country, I mean, its like playing canada.

It will be a bit embarrasing to lose to what is not even a country then. But, looking at their roster, I think we will absolutely be the underdogs.

Yeah..you may definitely want to not look at the outcome with that kind of perspective. Underestimating Catalonia could be fatal :(.

Are you guys nuts? Catalonia will be the favorites, easy. We'll by playing a sprinkling of Spanish national teamers, in Spain, getting a rare chance to wear the colors of what they believe should be a separate country. They'll be pumped, we'll be whipped.

Note even a country works against us, as the players can play for Catalonia and then turn around and play for Spain later.

If another natural LB not named Bornstein isn't on the roster, BB should be fired.

You guys may want to note that Spain has a Euro qualie in Denmark on the 13th. We will be facing far from the strongest possible Catalan side.

Let's hope so.

I hope it's a strong Catalonian side actually.

Right on, Gioca. Why would we wish for a weak opponent in a friendly?

This board wants us to play better competition and take our lumps and get better, deal with adversity, blood new players, etc. But when we do it and it's not pretty, look out! Ecuador we played great and won convincingly, but that was "just a friendly...at home." Sweden we played mediocre soccer and got beat by a goal on a non-call (however Sweden was the better side), "FIRE THE COACH NOW."

Stronger the better . . . but if two young players whose last names both begin with "A" aren't on the squad, then BB should be fired (results, however, matter not at this point).

Yep of course, they have a pretty good pool of players to choose from not to mention most of their guys play in La Liga.

China sucks, but Russia has Gus Hiddink right now and their team is playing very well in the qualifications for Euro 2008. If Bradley went to Moscow to play Hiddink's side you guys would be embarassed, so nuff said.

This really should not be ignored. BUT the Catalans will calmly try to destroy us, whereas actual qualifying teams like the Swiss will be happier with a tie.

I am itching to see what Bob Bradley has for a roster vs Brazil. I assume he will try out certain MLS players in view of deciding whether they should play vs Catalonia and Switzerland a month later -during MLS playoffs!

Altidore is a possibility. Will he be released?
Parkhurst? If he has Gooch, Demerit, Boca, and maybe Gibbs? Looks like BB is going to try to jumpstart some player's return like Convey.
Convey at L-mid? If he has Beasley and maybe Adu?
Is Hill at the present worth another look?
Those that believe the Feilhaber-Bradley duo experiment is over are misled.

If BB chooses right - he might avoid somewhat disastrous results in Europe.
The second half of his first year has been very different, hasn't it?

Would anyone else like to see an Altidore-Hill forward pairing? I think they could both make the 2010 roster, and they're both exciting athletes, why not try it?
