Just got back from the Algeria-Brazil game here in Montpellier. Alex played very well. Daniel Alves entered in the 76th minute and didn't really do anything. Maicon was better at RB, in fact. For the Algerians, Karim Ziani is one to watch. I know of him only because he plays for Marseille, but he gave a lot of problems to the Brazilian back line and was the best player on the pitch until Kaka came on.

Boula (yes he is still our player) on at halftime, down 1-0 to the Swiss
Maka and Malouda playing for Les Blues vs Slovokia
Ferreria played for Portugal in a 1-1 draw with Armenia, the diver scored for them

I meant to ask you if you were going. Thought Algeria looked great going foward and were unlucky not to have a penner early on.

I was in the stand right above that disputed call, and I thought it was the right decision by the ref.
You're right, Algeria did look good. The problem was that since Brazil pinned them so far back for long periods, when they countered, the midfielders had a hard time getting up in time to meet any crosses Ziani was able to produce. It got better in the second half, but then they just couldn't hit the target.

I think it was Alex Silva at certreback not our Alex (Alex Rodrigo Dias da Costa)

Mclaren is a douche bag. I cannot fathom what goes on in his head.
wtf does Brown, Smith and Dyer doing on the field?
Pathetic.

2 goals for young Shane Long. I didn't realize he was a part of the senior set-up for Ireland yet.

Right you are. Big, tall, bald Brazilians who wear number 4 look an awful lot alike from behind! Funny the things you miss out on when you actually go to a game in person instead of watching on TV. I assumed it was our Alex all along when they announced him as "Alex" before the game. Only when I looked at the reports online did I realize it wasn't.
I guess that if the one we have doesn't work out, this Alex Silva might be worth a look!

was listening to the stream of belgium v. serbia whilst working - THAT sounded like a great match to watch. hoping to catch the repeat tonight.

I think McClaren fancies David Beckham. There's no other reasoning for taking off Joe Cole and putting SWP on the left, when Beckham was clearly unfit.

you did just use reasoning and McClaren in the same sentence...
BTW- I thought J. Cole, Lamps, and Terry all had relatively good games in a poor England performance. Micah Richards MOTM for me
