I think that if it was just a question of skills and talent there is no doubt he could be in the National Team, but politically he won't be able to after all the bad blood between him and Sorin, and the criticism of fans I do not think that Basile will even consider to call him as he wants to begin his new coaching term off smoothly. Also Argentina is full of talented mid-fielders who are much younger and accepted by the fans. It might be unjust and sad but that's life.

I always thought it was a shameful injustice the way the media and public treated him after Japan. He is mighty talented and even at his age he has a lot to offer to the NT, talent, motivation, experience..etc. But with Mascherano filing the #5 spot for years to come I don't think he'll get called. He shouldn't play the enganche roll.

Es el símbolo del Estudiantes campeón. Pero también es un personaje polémico desde sus tiempos de Selección. Dijo que llegó el momento de transferir al goleador Mariano Pavone creando cierta rispideces y también avisó que cuando finalice su carrera como futbolista no será técnico sino dirigente.

He turned the offer down. I am pretty sure he wants to end his carreer in Estudiantes, he's an idol there and doesnt' want to leave.
