A bunch of us met at the Globe Pub the night before the Gold Cup final. A good time was had by all, and I'd like more Sammers/US Supporters to meet there the night before USA vs. Brazil. It's a soccer pub with a fantastic beer selection and good food, I'd recommend it to anyone.

We met you there that night. We had also met at the fanfest in Frankfurt near the annoying Brazilians with the whistle. We'll be there again.

Not to threadjack, but several of us coming in from Oregon will be at "The Gourds" show at The Abbey Pub: http://www.abbeypub.com/index.php?module=PostCalendar&func=view&viewtype=month&Date=09/01/2007

It's an Irish pub, apparently, so there could be some footy overtones.

I'm afraid you have me mistaken for someone else. Unfortunately I was not at the World Cup in Germany. Night before the Gold Cup final I was wearing a red US Soccer crest shirt. I was one of the Liverpool fans; "How hard... Gerrard!" Anyway it will be great to see you there again.

MLS matches start sometime late afternoon and then.......

Well, they close at 3AM.

I'm telling people to meet there at 7pm, so there should be room for us. We may be dealing with some exhausted servers, though.

Does the Globe have a pool table or any other bar sports? I have a feeling I am going to spend the entire day of the 8th there. Odds are I get the boot by 4:30 pm.

If you get bored mid-afternoon Ginger's Ale house was about a 2 minute ride or 10 minute walk if I remember correctly and they have pool tables. I think Ginger's had FSC and Setenta but no Direct Kick. We went down there for a while the Saturday before the Gold Cup final but ended up wishing we had just stayed at the Globe. If you are going to be out all day it might provide a nice change of setting for an hour or two between the early games on TV and the time when folks are planning on meeting at the Globe.

As of the Gold Cup, they definitely didn't have Direct Kick. We went there the night before the Gold Cup final to watch the DC/RSL game, which was on FSC, but went a couple of hours earlier to watch another game on Direct Kick only to find out that they don't (or didn't at the time) have it.

I am going to be in town for the game. But, I am traveling w/ my underage brother, does the Globe have an age limit during the day. I would like to catch the rugby world cup. Any info would be helpful?

You're younger brother will be fine. Kids come with parents on a regular basis to watch matches with their parents. It's also legal in Chicago for kids to enter a bar & grill but they cannot sit at the bar. Bring him, the atmosphere will be great.
Just keep him away from the bar.

Ok, please bring me some comforting answers. Long story short, I had a friend order a pair of tickets for me while at work. The supporters section was sold out and the ticketmaster rep. talked her into getting section 150. PLEASEEEEE tell me that security isnt that strict and Ill be able to join my fellow Sammers for the game.

Sorry to shift directions a bit, but where is the Army meeting the morning of the match? We got there late for the GC Final and missed out and the pregame fun.

U.S. Supporters/Sam's Army should meet on top of the Waldron Parking Garage, southwest corner, at 11:00 AM for tailgating and marching to the game.
