I must admit that I'm having a hard time warming up to him this year. After abandoning the team last year and taking some parting shots, I'm not his biggest fan anymore. Plus he would've made a world of difference to last year's inept midfield. In my mind, he cost us the trophy last year.

I would say the reason we failed to win a title last year was Magath's complete lack of tactical acumen.
Ze left primarily because of Magath, and if you were around when Bayern fired Hitzfeld the first time Sagnol wanted to leave as well. Magath is not a good player manager, or a good in game manager.

After abandoning the team last year
why should he have stayed at club whose coach didn't want him any longer and didn't even talk to him?

Ze is actually the only one that spoke out against Magath, and I applaud him for that. If Ze wouldn't love Bayern he could have gone to milan, who I am sure offered him at least the same money.

From what I've seen so far of Bayern, Ze Roberto looks to be one of the best players and key to any kind of success this season.
I don't blame him at all for leaving. He had no choice and I'd support any player that was in his shoes at that point.

I'm glad he left. Who knows, if he would have stayed and we would have won (which I doubt) Magath would still be coach.
His departure was the beginning of the end for Felix and the reason why managmenet pulled this complete overhaul.
By the end of the season, Ze will be one of our most important and best players.

He's basically the player we hoped Hargreaves to be last season.

It's not like he left and went to Milan/Inter/Juventus to get a retirement bill.
He went to Santos, performed great there, earned a lot of respect, and came back to Munich fresher than ever after spending some time in Brazil.
Ze Roberto going back to Brazil for a while was the best thing that could happen to Bayern.

It hurts when people undermine the value of Ballack..
Even though Ze' was a good player for Bayern, he never was at his best for Bayern..
I think Ballack's departure coupled with Ze's triggered this overhaul..
Anyways, I don't complain at all..I am glad that Bayern managed to do the overhaul..But there's always that niggling thought..if only they did this when Ballack was around...:D

itīs good to have him back...
on monday he sayed in an interview, that in the time with magath he had no fun in playing football, and thought of ending his career...
but during the WM06 and his time in brazil he enjoyed football again and is now happy to be back in munich for some more years :)

I have also wished that this would have happened. Just think of the dream midfield pairing Ze and Ballack would make.

I'm very glad he's back. He's a nice guy and a great footballer, and I'm sure he will a big part of this teams future success. The only thing that bothers me is his relatively high age, it would be really great if he was 3-4 years younger :D

I would strongly disagree. The failure to plug the midfield holes left by Ze & Ballack proved deterimental. I would blame Hoeness more so than Magath. Uli even admitted he made a mistake with overestimating last year's talent.
Where does this Magath negativity come from? I'm not his biggest fan, but he did win 2 Bundesliga titles. Given this year's team, Magath would certainly bring the title back as Hitzfeld will surely do. The only thing I fault him for is sticking with Van Buyten and Van Bommel for so long. I still think Van Bommel needs to go along with Podolski & Schweinsteiger.

Dumping the mess that was last season at Magath's feet is just soooooo lame. He was given the weakest pool of players that Bayern has had for many years, a group that even the great Gottmar couldn't do anything with. I never personally liked Magath, but he was given the shaft by management.
Now I give Hoeness and Rumminige credit. They recognized that they screwed up, that the current talent pool was not sufficient to compete at the higher levels and fixed it. They threw Magath to the wolves (all part of a trainers job)They then off loaded a bunch of under achievers, and brought in a group that has the ablity to compete at most any level. Made sure they had two to three quality players at every position and fanned the competive fires from the inside. That is good management, the ability to recognize your mistakes and fix them in a profound way.
As far as Ze. I think he has been second to only Frank in terms of what he has brought to our team upon his return. Add the pleasant surprise of Altintop, and the midfield is better than when Ballack was here.

I second that. Ballack was too lazy and arrogant. Sure he sometimes produced the spectacular, but what we are seeing Ribery produce now is what a real midfield talisman is made of.
Ze has been a rock at the heart of the team, but in two/three seasons we will need a solid replacement. Good defensive midfielders are hard to come by. Maybe Ottl & Kroos partnership could be the solution.

Who knows, maybe this is what our attack will look like in the future
-----------------Ottl-----------Kroos-----------------
------Altintop----------Schweiny-------------Ribery
-------------------Podolski---------------------------
Altintop can play alongside Ottl and Kroos moves up but thats looking way too far into the future.

Now,who is bringing that assholes name back again and again?
How many times should we say Ballack is over?It is good to be over with him. We scored 8 goals against Bremen in two matches and conceded only one.Do we seem like we need him?He is happy with Chelsea let him be.I do not think Chelsea fans are happy with him. They are sorely disappointed in his performances. However we Bayern fans are quite happy with our team i suppose.

Given this year's team, Magath would certainly bring the title back as Hitzfeld will surely do.
This is dangerous. This sentence will directly lead to a misunderstanding that Magath is quite capable of matching Hitzfeld's achievement.
Dumping the mess that was last season at Magath's feet is just soooooo lame. He was given the weakest pool of players that Bayern has had for many years, a group that even the great Gottmar couldn't do anything with. I never personally liked Magath, but he was given the shaft by management.
Of course Hoeness and Rummenigge has their share of blame.Of course it was the weakest Bayern in years last year. However i believe that team was still capable of winning the Bundesliga.Had Hitzfeld been in charge from the beginnig of the last season i think we would win the league. To me last season our main problem was not the lack of quality but the lack of self-confidence which players gained under the rule of Magath. When Hitzfeld come in charge it was all over.Players already were thinking of themselves as a bunch of losers.
This years rebuilding gave us a team that not only capable of challenging for the German domestic titles but also capable of challenging for the biggest honours in the European football. We lacked that kind of team since Effenberg left.A rather long rebuilding process for Uli i must say.
And about Ze;he is a midfielder simply can do anything. He can tackle he can pass he can run.He is a key player to us this season and i am very happy we got him back.
