The interest in this thread just about matches the ambition, skill and focus of the players and the manager at this point, and deservedly so.
What a base performance; devoid of imagination, devoid of a need for me to be engaged with this club at all.
And yet here I am, still posting about it; only because I, like most of us, exhibit more commitment than most on the pitch/in the dugout.

Very well said. You would think PLG and PSG would be inspired
with Ligue 1 being so wide open right now, but alas, this is PSG we
are speaking of and I guess what did we expect.

I just finished watching the game on PSG TV (well the 2nd half anyway) and what a terrible performance by both teams. I'll start with Metz.
They look like a team who hasn't added to their Ligue 2 squad. They worked hard and both the midfield and defense did a solid job. One thing they had going for them is creativity, I was impressed by the wingers and forwards ability to pick the ball up from deep and run to create chances. Unfortunately for them, though, they lack quality and this toled both in the final ball and the finish, which were both too often astray. Certainly a better team would have beaten them.
Then there was PSG, where to start?
The defense. They were awful. Against a team that posed little attacking threat they managed to get themselves into a terrible mess. They always looked shaky when the ball was in the air and occasionally they over-committed going forward leaving sometimes only 1 player back to defend a counter, which almost cost them dear. The full-backs never ventured into the Metz half to assist attacks which was inexcusable against a team with so little potency up front!
The midfield. No need for analysis here, they were simply ineffective breaking up attacks that started in the middle of the park and lack even the most basic creativity.
The forwards. Their ineffectiveness was mainly due to selection. PLG chose to partner 2 players who both like to drop deep and receive the ball with their back to goal. Basically it was like playing with 2 advanced midfielders. Countless times when a midfielder got the ball in between the half way line and the penalty area, there was no-one in advance of him. Diane was invisible 95% of the match and Luyindula played far too deep, a centre-forward needed to be played yet Pauleta sat on the bench and N'gog didn't even get that far. With Diane and Luyindula up top, it's like playing with 6 midfielders. They never looked like scoring.
Overall, it was a performance devoid of ambition, creativity and goal-scoring potential. Le Guen must sort this out or, surely, face the fans turning against him.

I thought PLG was going to be THE answer to return PSG
to their glory days? Either PSG is just THAT awful OR
the PSG board is cheap or PLG is not as talented of a
care-taker as I thought he was???

My opinion is that they have mediocre talent. I hear that their youth system doesnt produce the talent like Lyon, Marseille and Monaco's youth systems do.

That seems oddly shocking, considering Paris is the largest city in France.

Have you seen the young talent in the PSG squad at the moment????
Sakho, Mulumbu, N'gog, Arnaud, Chantome, Ngoyi and Sankhare all look to be future first-teamers!!
That is some serious talent and all are less than 21 years old!

Sadly I thought that too. However in the last few games he has made some shocking decision's (the substituions against Lorient, not starting Pauleta tonight, playing Diane and Luyindula upfront against Lens).
I think, compared to the rest of Ligue 1, this PSG squad is good. Amongst the top 5 squads certainly, however they are not performing and I think this is because we all over-estimated PLG's talent.
He had limited success at Rennes, crashed and burnt in an easy scottish league and with a very talented Lyon team only won 55% of his games.
Lacombe had a better start to last season than PLG has to this one!

I am very disappointed with our Paulo, I feel he is to blame for the Lorient game, and now this.
He saw the team being in trouble in the 2nd half, although the fact that Digard was injured is an obvious problem, Chantome is just not on the same level. And Gallardo? Why is he playing?
This game I can't tell much as I didn't see it.
And finally, when will we fire Luyindula?! That guy has always been useless. Perhaps did a few good things here and there last season, but overall he has always been a mediocre player, he couldn't score a goal at Levante, he sucked with AJA, wasn't good enough for Lyon, and most of all, is a piece of crap l'Oheme screwed us over with. I hate that player.
He made so many misses in the games, ruined many attacking opportunities, barely did something useful, and takes a valuable place up front that I am sure Diane Frau and Pauleta deserve much more, instead of sitting one of them on the bench.
And it's obvious our right side is still as bad as before. Mendy had one good game that made people think he could do one more season, but we see that he doesn't cut it. And the right midfielder position isn't the most valuable way to use PAF. He can do much better up front. And apparently the management is trying to make a push for Gouffran. But what will he do? He is also a striker, not a winger.
Perhaps they're waiting for the youngsters. Arnaud perhaps? Or Sankhare, now that he's served his 4 game suspension.
Meh, actually, even if we got 3 scoreless draws, one great half, and one horrible half to make a loss, I still think the team isn't in such a bad spot. Let's just hope they won't make a patented Vahid start and not get a win until the 8th game.
On the bright side, with Lorient beating LOL, we have the same number of points as the champs, they haven't ditched us yet :D
