does anyone have the rating for MLS Soccer Saturday on ESPN2?
Did a quick search on the internet but can't find any. If anyone know, it should be the experts that roam these forum. (it's a compliment)

Ratings are generally not released by ESPN or MLS.
Occasionally some journalists with have unattributed sources to obtain the data.
The data generally hovers around 120000 - 200000 households, implying national ratings on the order of 0.12(%) to 0.20. The average should be around 150000 households (+/- 20000), or a 0.15 (+/- 0.02) national rating. The ratings have been fairly steady for the past couple of years

How do they get the ratings? I've never really understood, is it only from Nielsen homes or what?

They use a Nielsen box like a Gallup Poll. It's a statistical sampling extrapolated over the entire country.

Not ESPN2, but local to LA - thought this might be of interest.
Larry Stewart of the LA Times does a weekly column on what LA sports fans are watching, comparing local ratings for various events. He was impressed by the LAG ratings on local stations for a recent game (I think it was the Dallas match) and had a paragraph in his coumn that began, "Maybe the Galaxy is finally catching on"
LAG local broadcast has a 1.3 rating, and a 2 share.
I do not know what the rating points in the LA market convert to in raw numbers, but if I understand the "share" part that means 2% of all TV sets in the market were tuned to the LAG game. That made it the third or 4th highest rated sports program of the night.

The rating is the percentage of households in the market that have a TV tuned in to that telecast out of all households in the market. The share is the percentage of televisions that are tuned to the game out of the number of TVs in the market that are _on_.

i've been trying my hardest to reach ABC for the ESPN2 ratings for MLS and Euro Champs League.
so far, no go.
i'm supposed to talk to the man who negotiated the contract for Fox Sports World and MLS soon but I know they won't release data either

FSW is not in enough households to be measured by the common ratings system.
FSW has a home grown version they use to track viewership but those numbers are not released to the public.

This may be a dumb question, but why aren't you contacting ESPN themselves instead of ABC? It seems like the parental role ABC used to have over ESPN went away once Disney took over both units.
I think you would have better luck contacting someone within MLS for the numbers for ESPN2.
