Andy van der Meyde has been suspended by David Moyes following a breach of club discipline.
The Dutch winger was not involved at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening and he is not in the squad for the weekend game at Reading.
van der Meyde has been disciplined following his non-appearance at training on the Sunday following the opening day success against Wigan Athletic at Goodison Park.
He has subsequently been suspended for a week by the manager and he has been handed the maximum fine possible.
"Andy has had numerous warnings about this type of thing and we won't tolerate it any longer," said Moyes.
"I will make a decision regarding the player's future next week."

This has got to be it for him. enough of this crap already. He has to go, but can we get anything for him at this point? Even before I saw this story I was thinking that if we got Manny then it was time for Andy to go.
Does he have any value at all in the transfer market? If we can get half a million pounds for him, I'd take it. If we could get a bag of balls, I'd take that too.

wow. i honestly never liked him, didn't know much about him, but just didn't like him.
some people just can't handle "success" (whatever success they are striving for) when they get it. :(
oh well i'm just going to continue my happy dance about Manny :)

Success? Andy van has played for Ajax and Inter, clubs much more successful than him.
Andy van der Meyde can't handle himself. Fact. Good bye

what i meant was he had the chance, was given the opportunity. how many kids are out there that'd kill for that opportunity? i'm not saying he was a great player etc. which is why i put the ""s and the (whatever success they are striving for) parts... i wasnt saying he was a successful player because i agree with you, he ********ed himself over.
and i wasn't speaking only of everton

Really too bad as I wanted him to make it with us.
Sadly, it doesn't look like that's gonna happen now.

I gave him one more chance before the season started. I now officially hate him. Get him off my team, I don't care how much money we lose on the deal. Do it now.

Now I feel sorry for him again. Damn all this confusion!

Yeah people, his daughter has been in the hospital for the past month. Maybe you should have recognized that before throwing him under the bus. That was the reason he didn't fly to the U.S. for the tour.

How were we to know? I hadn't read that anywhere. The reason we threw him under the bus so quickly is because of all the other times he's flaked on us.
And...
While I totally understand that his daughter is way more important than football, you'd think he would have arranged some time off rather than just skipping practice and earning a suspension. Surely Moyes wouldn't have said no had he asked beforehand. It just seems like typical VDM behavior at this point. Do something ********ed up and then come out with a spectacular, gut-wrenching excuse later.

i agree sara. this is the first time i've heard anything about his daughter (that i remember at least) and even if he hadn't arranged time off, if he'd told moyes what was up on that first conversation i don't think moyes would have suspended him. i think something else is going on, sorry. just sounds all too fishy.
good luck to him and his daughter tho.

I agree. There are proper channels though which things like this are taken care of. You'd think that knowing that this might be the last chance saloon for him, that he'd go through those channels so that there's isn't any misunderstanding in dealing with the situation.
Personally, I think he just needs to be playing but it looks like we're a bit past that now.

He seems a lot like this girl at work, sure they're nice people, and it makes you feel sorry for them about their problems. The fact of the matter is you're paid to work, and if you're never there. Then there is no point keeping them on the payroll. Sell him to Cardiff.

And what has that got to do with Van Der Mead (get it - because he's a drunk and Mead is an alcoholic beverage - is this thing on?)
