Hey guys, I am not sure if this has been mentioned in previous posts, but the Superliga game between Pachuca and Houston did a .9 MN1834 and .9 MN1849 rating, based on the overnight data. It was the highest rated Superliga game thus far. I also know it beat out such Prime programming as 'On the Lot' from FOX, and all the CW programs. I don't know how it compared to ESPN programming on that night, but as far as Prime Network programming, it ranked 13th out of 26 programs on Network TV (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Telefutura, Univision, CW). I am thinking the final between Beckham's Galaxy and Pachuca will deliver at least a 1.2 rating. It should be interesting.

SuperLiga turned out to be a surprisingly good tournament.

It has a bright future.

I forgot the exact number but it got around a 4.5 (+/-.2) locally. Both the Pachuca and DC United SuperLiga games got higher ratings than the Astros who were playing at the same time.

What are the chances that an English channel picks this game up? ESPN (Classic looks like itd be the only one open), GolTv, or FSC

Does anyone know what the official status of English broadcasts for this tournament are for the final and for future years?

I don't think that's allowed. Pretty sure Telefutura has been granted full television rights.

Speaking of which, anyone find it interesting the Telefutura announcer did his post-game interview with Beckham in English without a translator on sight to paraphrase in English. Thought that was interesting.

I guess people were paying attention in March. A lot of this has to be attributed to the hype that was created by that other semifinal.

Any numbers on the LA - DC match yet?

Heh true although ol' Fernando would certainly benefit from a phonetics class or two.

Here are the local ratings:

Los Angeles Market #'s:

Los Angeles NSI:
Adults 18-49: 2.1 Rating #2 in the Time Period behind KMEX-Univision.

Thats a nice number for a smaller Spanish station to produce. Top anglo show of the summer, Hells Kitchen does about a 4 RA18-49 and the Dodgers and Angels regular season games do between a .8-1.5 RA18-49 on KCOP & KCAL. A Wednesday night Dodgers-Giants during the Barry Bonds hoopla did a 2.5 a few weeks back.

2 individual non-hispanic shows beat the Galaxy Game last night in LA:

KTTV-Fox:
2.9 RA18-49 So You Think You Can Dance Finale

KCBS-CBS:
2.3 RA18-49 CSI

And, in the hispanic only ratings, of course the ratings where higher...

Los Angeles NHSI:
Adults 18-49: 4.4 Rating #2 in the Time Period behind Univision

Wow. That's awesome.

Now we've just gotta convince ESPN that just because white people aren't watching a sport doesn't mean Americans aren't watching it.

I would love to see what Fox would do with it. Not FSC but Fox. It would be a nice way for them to dip their toes into the US soccer scene. The time is good if it stays the same. Not sure how summer shows or repeats are doing, but I am sure Superliga could compete. Only thing is; reality shows are cheeper to make than paying MLS for Liga rights.

I just dont see Fox doing it. There channel has NFL and baseball & NASCAR...They always market themselves as the "american channel" during sports (all the flag waving etc).

I just dont see them doing it for a "non american" sport.

Maybe ABC

Thought that was interesting.Sorry to further go off-topic but here's a link to Fox's soccer highlight videos. Click on "More Sports," then "Latest FSC Videos," and then "Beckham notches first for LA" - has parts of the interview. ;)

I think that FSC will pony up the loot for Superliga next year.

Thank you for the info andrew.

For those that don't know, andrew has inside information because of his occupation. He's legit. He has posted info on MLS Rating threads before.

The Superliga tv contract - like the regular MLS tv contract - was put together pre-Beckham. Surely, next year will see an English language contract.

I wonder how many people watched on the Superliga site. There was some error on it for me so I had to watch it with TVUPlayer.
