Yea, Cannon isn't bad. But Perkins is horrible and would make any opposing keeper look good. It was a testiment to his backline that he was an all-star last year.

HAHAHA, sounds like Joe needs some more advice from Mr. Beckham on how to look cool...

Seriously Joe, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!

Cannon is good but he has to have a submissive backline to work with. He's a jack-a$$ on the field and would tangle with a dominant alpha type.

Huh?

Abel Xavier is about as "dominant alpha type" as they come in MLS..

any guy with hair like that is a bend over beta.:D I've watched him and he doesn't say anything to Joe. If he's the dominant bull you say he is then he'll go after Joe sooner than later. Little Ben Olsen is a b!tcher like Joe and seems to get away with it. I guess it has something to do with the laid back nature of most soccer players.

Joe Cannon has been part of the teams that have knocked us out of the following:

2005 Playoffs
2006 Playoffs
2007 SuperLiga

He's also the funnest keeper in the league to mess with when they're in the goal right in front of the Inferno. He claps when he finds one of our chants particularly amusing.

When things get intense, he gives us crap right back. Two examples...

1. After one of the Colorado regular season games at PHP (in which we had hounded him relentlessly), he turned around and clapped to us. Ran up towards us with his jersey in hand and pretended he was going to throw it up to us. He put the jersey around his neck, smiled and wagged his finger at us.

2. At the SuperLiga game, he held up 6 fingers at us after LA got their 6th goal. Of course, he wouldn't look at us after FCD marched back and got their 5th of the game. :)

Joe Cannon = Good sh!t that the Inferno would gladly share beers with.

Continuing with the theme of non-FCD soccer thoughts relating to last night's game, tip of the hat must go to the Telefutura talent spotters. Drives me nuts when networks cut away from the play on the field - except when those games are on Telefutura, Univision, etc, that is. Very nice to see some of SoCal's finest out for the match.

Keep up the good work, boys.

yep, Cannon's been in the top-tier of MLS goalies for years now. he's funny and probably a good guy, as many people point out, but I hate what he's done to us on the pitch and I'm not a fan.

Reis, on the other hand, is just as funny and just as good without having the detestable history with us.

Cannon is a great shot stopper but seems to be one of the worst GK's in MLS at judging crosses.....reminds me of an English goalkeeper from my youth....his nickname was "Dracula".....(bad on crosses)

also true.....here's another one (also true) A former team mate of mine was, in his youth, playing for Chester....they had reached the 2nd round of the FA Cup (the big teams show up in the 3rd round)....they are at home getting ready to go out for the KO when the chairman shows up to speak to the players....(getting to the 3rd round can be a huge windfall for the smaller clubs....especially if they get Man Utd or similar)....So the chairman says..."Look lads, we have to win this game....this is huge for this club, we must win.....we need the money so we can buy new players"....

They lost 3-0....

Cannon is a huge upgrade over Kevin Hartman when it comes to crosses, he's also probably at the same level if not better then Tim Howard at that as well...
