Is it a public relations exercise, or just a jolly?
Could he really be there to check out the form of a thirty something, not fully recovered from an injury he has carried since last season, and restricted to a couple of token appearances in a team that plays in a league that would surely be dominated by by the likes of Leicester or Coventry? (no disrespect intended)
Surely not.

Um, I thought he saw Beckham in Washington, D.C., during the DC United game. I hadn't heard that he came out here?

Speaking as a English football fan I am utterly outraged that Mac as done this.

Why does it take a trip halfway round the world (at the English FA's expense) to watch a player for 10 minutes? This could easily be achieved by WATCHING THE TV LIKE THE REST OF US!

It was obviously a big publicity stunt, to show some support to Beckham and the MLS.

The fact that he has directly compared the MLS to the Pro English leagues absolutely makes my blood boil. What he's saying, in effect, that the MLS is better than 80% of English professional teams?

That is an absolute slap in the face to those outside the EPL.

I know he's trying to stick up for Beckham by claiming the standard is much better than it actually is (because the England fans DO NOT WANT BECKHAM BACK in the international fold, we have much better right wingers available for selection and by recalling him he is hindering the international career of somebody else), but to make a specific comparision (especially his own country) as a reference is completely unprofessional.

If you continue to read the Mirrors responses you'll see how infuriated that has made the English fans, comments like that can cost you your job.

I (unlike most of the majority of fans in this country) was willing to give him some time and let him prove hes up to the task of managing a Top-class international team. The fact that he has choose to slate the teams that would have offered him a job WHEN he gets sacked from England hopefully will be his downfall.

Lets face it, he's under fire at the minute (which is the ONLY reason Beckham has been recalled to the international squad.) 1 or 2 more bad results and he's gone, we don't take bad international results likely over here.

1 more comment like that Mac and you'll no longer find that any English team will want to employ you, so you can F**k off and join Beckham in the MLS. Just don't come back with your tail between your legs.
