How BAD is this actor? Every movie I've seen him in, he has threatened to destroy... just yesterday, I watched True Romance (GREAT movie, but only average direction... amazing cast sans Slater) and he was worse in it than he has been in most other movies. Does he try to do this? With the squinty-eyed, smirking, hair-everywhere look how did he ever plan to succeed? The guy is a shmuck, he ruined some great lines in the movie (i.e: after getting the suitcase of drugs... don't worry, it happens early so its not a spoiler, he says "this is the best damn hamburger I've ever had" at a time where it could be hilarious, but messes it up completely. I HATE CHRISTIAN SLATER!!! (and Val Kilmer). They should've got Brad Pitt to switch roles with him for this.
BEWARE... minor spoilers below
As for the movie it's very good, if lacking true direction, the scene where Brad Pitt is hitting the makeshift bong (that water looked OLD) and the mobsters burst in is one of the funniest pieces of acting in Pitts fine career. Other great/funny scenes are the final action scene and the "Scilians were spawned from **************s" scene. Oh, and just about anything from Tom Sizemore

You're a folkking moron. His greatness was established soley by Heathers. Everything else, including True Romance, is sausage gravy with beer biscuits.
Anyway, your attack on Slater is a pretty thinly veiled attempt to share your man crush on Pitt.
As if we care.

He did a good job in Heathers, but has been miscast ever since. And I agree with the Val Kilmer statement. As a huge Doors fan, I don't think they could have picked a worse actor to portray Jim Morrison. He single handedly killed what could have been a great movie.

Not arguing about "miscasting". Arguing about statements about "lousy acting", etc.

Brad Pitt isn't that great. If he looked like Iain Dowie, he'd be nowhere. If you want good actors, Anthony Hopkins, Bob De Niro, Damian Lewis (ginger guy from band of brothers), Ewan McGragor, Robert Carlyle, Bob Hoskins and Billy Connolly (yes, the Big Yin himself) are better than Mr. Pretty Boy.

Surely Val is better than Bill Cosby would have been.

Yea I'm not disputing that (de Niro is the best actor of all time, imo), but they'd be too old/too young/not right for the role.

Iain Dowie as a long-haired romantic lead. Now that is a scary thought.

late to join the thread but I completely agree with you about Slater. He is the same guy in every film:
Heathers
Very Bad Things
True Romance
Young Guns 2
Same weasely arse-wipe in every flick.
Kilmer however.....pure genius. Tombstone - awesome movie...haven't seen anyone play a drunk as well as that, then that chick-flick where he plays the blind guy, Top Gun - you hate his character Ice-Man but he plays it well.
And Pitt, well I'd fcuk him if I was female. But for me the best actors are Gary Oldman, Kevin Spacey and Travolta.

What would you do to them if you were:
1) a dog
2) a bear
3) a really tiny tinkerbell type person
4) a cucumber?
