It is official US will play Brazil in Chicago. Looks like they are bringing their full squad:

"Brazil will be making a rare trip to the United States with their full roster as they begin preparations for the start of South American World Cup qualifying in October. Led by two-time FIFA World Player of the Year and Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho, Brazil can deploy some of the finest attacking talent in the world. The midfield magician has scored 40 goals for Barcelona during the last two seasons, and scored two goals as part of Brazil’s 2002 World Cup winning side. His commercials for Nike during the 2006 FIFA World Cup were amongst the most viewed videos on YouTube. Kaká is regarded as one of the most superb passers in the world. Real Madrid striker Robinho scored 14 goals in helping his side capture the 2006-07 Spanish league title, and ended as the leading scorer in the 2007 Copa America with six goals. Former Brazilian international midfielder Dunga took the reigns following the 2006 World Cup, and has amassed an 11-2-3 record since then, including a pair of 3-0 victories against archrivals and No. 2 ranked Argentina. "The U.S. had previously been scheduled to play Mexico on September 9 in Mexico City, however that match was cancelled due to contractual and financial considerations."---ussoccer.com
If any match was gonna help take the place of a cancelled U.S. vs Mexico match from the Azteca...it would be this one.
Would be cooler to have at Reliant, since the NFL will be in full swing in September, where the gridiron lines can be easily avoided with the tray system on hand here. Soldier field needs to be at peak conditions for hosting the Samba Boys. Class.
MERGE THREADS...there are several floating on this change in plans.

I just hope Bradley gets his requests in on time for his Euro based talent.
Can someone notify USSoccer that Brazil is a good team?

I want to know why it's being called "The Clash Of Champions?" I mean, obviously Brasil qualifies as multi World Cup champion, but the US? I guess they're thinking Gold Cup? Hmm...

Yes Brazil won the Copa America and US won the Gold Cup. So both are champions of their own region. Both have qualified for the Confederations cup in 2009.

Nice little upgrade.
I'm waiting on the complaints that we're not playing them in Brazil, as if playing against them isn't good enough.

I'm waiting on the complaints that we're not playing them in Brazil, as if playing against them isn't good enough. LOL The sad thing is that I have been waiting for those same complaints. Amazing that when this time of incredible news comes in, noone posts to acknolwedge it, but if this had been something viewed as "negative", we'd already be on page 3 or 4.

We'll have an opportunity do that in a REAL match come WCQ time, so what's the big deal?
Can't believe people are complaining about us facing Brazil....unreal.

Now instead of playing in Mexico we are playing a meaningless friendly against Brazil at home. Whoopie. If we lose, well we were supposed to lose. If we win, well its just a friendly.

Bob better field a first team, because if he defers to MLS or other clubs on a FIFA date, there is no hope for him.....
Also be nice to not let the other Intl date go to waste and get somebody good to play 9/12.

This will be an interesting challenge. I would like to see a quick-footed lineup that can keep the ball. But I'm also a tactical neophyte so I may be totally off base.
I think if we give up too much possession we'll get beat badly. Since the Euros have plenty of time to get back to their clubs (since there's no game on the 12th), I say we call in the best we have as well.

Dolo----Boca----Conrad-----Bornstein
---------------Clark---------------------
Landon-------Feilhaber--------Beasley
---------------Dempsey---------------
------------------EJ--------------------
Landon and Clint can exchange freely in this lineup.
Subs:
Ching for EJ
Onyewu for Conrad
Spector for Bornstein
Bradley for Clark

I can't believe you don't have Beckham in this lineup man. He'll be back to full fitness by then.
He's in America now, you know.
