Just as I got burned out on FIFA 07 I see that FIFA 08 is almost here.
Has anybody played the previous FIFA games on a PC? I have an old school XBOX and I am not going to spend $500 on a 360 so I was wondering how good the gameplay was on the PC.
I am really looking forward to the FCD team on this one since Toja was not on FIFA 07 for any team.

I own/ed 05 and 07 on PC and had a good time with it. I have a USB controller so I don't have to use the keyboard, but even if you use the keyboard it's fine.
yeah, eventually it always becomes impossible to find/create the new MLS players... so I'm eager to get 08.

It's just my opinion, but the FIFA series may have flashy graphics and all the licenses but it is massively inferior game to Pro Evolution Soccer from Konami. It's out in October and it's all about gameplay. If you want to play a game on a console/PC that will make you feel you are playing football you should get that....
Pro Evolution is available stateside, isn't it?

yeah, but I ain't all about gameplay. I'm all about the licenses: I need the teams and the players. the only thing wrong with FIFA, in my opinion, is that it lacks the Israeli national team, the Japanese national team, and the J-League.

I bought Winning Eleven before I bought FIFA 07 last year. The reason I won't buy Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution is that they don't have MLS (I don't care if the teams suck or nobody cares, it is my league) and the EA Sports games are more my style as far as menus and things like that.

exactly. I played a game on Winning11/PES here in Japan, and I chose to play against the US National Team and got scored on by a guy named MacRoad. I couldn't handle that.

If you play FIFA07 on the PC you can go here http://www.fifa-mra.com/CEP/ and get the Career Expansion Patch. They have a lot of world leagues and a butt load of national teams. You'll never play FIFA07 the same way again.:)

That depends. If the PC version uses the same engine as previous versions it might not be that long (days to weeks maybe). But if theres a completely new engine then someone will probably start an entirely new patch. That would most likely take months.:(

I enjoy Winning Eleven (Pro Evo Soccer) for the PC. There are patches to give it all the real licenses, and to even include the MLS teams. I'd look into it.
I'm looking forward to Fifa on the Wii this year. Think its coming out the same day, or maybe a week or two later.
Controlling Toja and Cooper with the wiimote... priceless...

How much space does FIFA take up on the hard drive? It doesn't ever get choopy does it?

on my computer it does get choppy if it's on its highest resolution. but my processor is run-of-the-mill. I dunno how much it takes up though, sorry... not all that much, certainly no more than a gig I would think.

I'm looking forward to the Wii version, but I have not had a version since 2002 so I am wondering what modes will be in the game?
Are there now real manager/ownership modes where you can run a MLS team like FCD?
Thanks in advance.

I've been addicted to FIFA07 since December. I bought the PS2 version when it came out but the game was so advanced from the previous versions it had me scared to play. I am now the manager for Torquay FC and sitting in 2nd place in the EPL. Great game. I am sick of the sound tracks. I did buy the Shiny Toy Guns CD that is featured and it is a very good album/cd. My first go 'round I managed FCD and then I went to Villareal and then Chelsea. I started over with Torquay in League Two. It was difficult going from a bunch of 30 and 40 rated players to top of the EPL.
My father-in-law loves having new technology so hopefully I can convince him to buy a PS3 so I can play FIFA08 in 65" DLP glory. My old 49" first gen HDTV and PS2 leave a little to be desired.

I've been waiting for the game for a few months now. UEFA and FIFA 07 haven't been able to keep my occupied...
Anyone planning on getting the 360 version? If so PM and i'll give you my gamertag so we can play online.

I have Fifa 06 on my computer. I love playing it on the computer and am not a huge fan of Playstation or XBOX. The one thing I want to see on FIFA 08, is the ability to bend the ball in mid-flight. Just hit the direction arrow when the ball is traveling to make it curve a bit.
