2-2 draw at derby with Benjani levelling for us after an oakley opener then Utaka almost won it for us until Andy Todd leveled for Derby. Lua Lua didn't feature as he was in talks about a possible move to Olympiakos. Great game for Mendes and Utaka, Muntari was uneffective on the left flank. Bad game for Hreidersson (unsuprisingly).
Not a bad result but hope we improve before the big matches.

I think you'll find they're all big matches. Well done on taking a point from Pride Park.

Tis true there are no easy games in the Premier nowdays.
Today was always going to be a toughy, Derby's first game back in the top flight and playing at home.A point away today was good.

I just got into the EPL, and well I watched the game between your team and the Derby County Rams... I favored the Rams in this game and they're the team I'll be watching, but Portsmouth looks like a SOLID team too. So I'll be watching both teams, I'm not a FAN of the really BIG clubs over in europe...

Sorry about that comment, mighty rams. My bad.

You don't have anything to apologize for. You refer to our upcoming ties with Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool as "the big matches" and the fan of a team newly-promoted takes exception? Please.

I know Derby would be fired up for their first game, but I was still hoping we would get all three points. Utaka looked good. Why is Primus not playing, is he still not fit? Why are we not putting in Taylor until the 80th minute?

Hreidarsson had a terrible game. Nugent, like he did in the Hong Kong tournament, was presented with a good chance that he just weakly nudged at goal. Thunder it, David!

If they would have had Feilhaber available, Derby would have won. I am just being sarcastic. I really like Feilhaber, there are way too many serious people on these post boards. Just easin' the tension baby!

wasn't a bad result, but disappointed not to take 3 from it. Thought we looked pretty solid after the first 30 min or so.... that first bit looked bad. Derby looked like they wanted it more than we did most of the game. they played with a lot of heart, although Pompey's quality showed through during some well played build ups and solid possession (at times.) Looking forward to hitting form and taking some points this coming season.

Primus was injured but it's not serious though. At this point I prefer to see Traore ahead of Hreidarsson or maybe playing Stefanovic as LB. Whatever the decision it needs to be fixed before Ronaldo eats us alive. Utaka had a great game. Nugent didn't really catch my eye but will come good though.
