A bit early I know, but there's such good drama going on in Belgrade. Coach fired today. They just barely got out of Estonia alive. But I don't think you want to go down to Belgrade needing a result.

Just to remind everyone - a little chat with Smith about today's game. Gers healthy except Papac who looks like a game day decision. Broadfoot would go instead. Cousin mentioned as possible, since he scored v. St. Mirren. Gers confidence good etc. etc. Red Star tied their first game under new coach 0-0.
Bease and the boys are home so they'll be trying for the shutout, obviously. Does Smith like Bease's defensive play?

also, Burzanovic hurt, Basta suspended fwiw.
I'll look and see if this can be watched anywhere free.

So far they don't have a stream listed. My guess is that one will pop up later.

they are home so they will be trying for a lot of goals. Away goals only matter as a tie breaker.

I don't know...did one end up popping up last time? I can't remember for the life of me.

They will try to win, obviously, but they will not be trying for a lot of goals at the expense of defense. Any team in the UEFA H-A games would rather win 2-0 than 5-3. Smith will be looking for a balance that can win this game without giving up more goals than needed - kind of obvious, of course, but "a lot" of goals is not that great if you're letting in just as many. In fact, it's worse. 0-0 is better than 1-1 and anybody who has been around as long as Smith understands that. He may not line-up for it, but he is well aware, as indicated in the article.

Oh boy. The 2nd leg entails a trip back to the Balkans.
Does DaBeaz and crew get to look forward to more monkey chants?

As long as it's in a separate thread, I don't have to open it.

Good luck guys... I would just love to see Rangers vs. Benfica in the champions league. I think Bigsoccer would crash if that was the case.

Beasley should be able to run circles around these guys.....draw 5 FK's and maybe an assist.

On the same day Landon announces his impending move to La Liga. And Becks gets his first healthy MLS start.
I think Bigsoccer would crash if that was the case.
Most likely. :D

Well, I could have sworn the last match against Zeta was on the BBC too--remember the highlight video people posted of Beasley's goal was BBC footage? No stream ended up emerging, in spite of major-network coverage, which is why I'm asking myself if one will show up this time.

I think it was there but you needed a UK proxy...which I couldn't find. Any help on that score is appreciated :)

Sadly, that is far beyond my technical ken. The limit of my e-competence appears to be the ability to post on a soccer message board.
