Well, I'm Brazilian, but I know very little of how ownership works in Brazil. In England and Italy it is possible for an individual to own a club, but what about Brazil? Are companies and individuals not allowed to buy an existing club?

Not the big clubs. They arent pubic companies that can be bought. There are many new teams though that seem tp have owners like Brasiliense (if Im not mistaken)...but most clubs are exactly that Clubs with members and a board but no owner and no way to buy it.

I always wondered that also...how would you determine the value of say Inter or Flamengo or Corinthians....

yes, you can own a team, Eurico owns vasco +)

being serious: you can but the majority of top clubs are associations.

best teams with owners:

Brasiliense: owned by ex-senator luis estevão
Grêmio Barueri: owned by a pool of investors
Ulbra/RS: Owned by luteran university
Boavista/RJ: Owned by Ponto Frio owner.
