For me it's either Payul Scholes or Gilberto at Arsenal. Both sides miss them when they're not there.
Scholes is the most talented English player since Gascoigne in my opinion. His use of the ball and over all game is magnificent. The only thing missing is a huge transfer fee.
Gilberto is under-rated. Her keeps Arsenal ticking over and gels the team together. He's got a better touch than most give him credit for too.

Based on the answers in the over-rated thread, I'd have to say Didier Drogba is the most under-rated player.
Man, the way some of your slagged him off in the other thread, it's unbelievable. He single-handedly kept Chelsea in the race for 2nd place. His ball control skills, pace and movement up front just can't be matched. And his skill with dribbling and shooting the ball from all areas of the pitch... we'd win everything on the planet with a player like him leading our line.

I don't think Scholes is underrated in England but he's is definitely underrated in world football, same with Giggs, who unfortunately will never get a chance to play in a World Cup or Euro.
I think Gary Neville is underrated. He's never spectacular, but rarely makes mistake and super consistent. Automatic choice in the RB spot whenever he's healthy. People keep calling to replace him in the England team but so far the people they try in that position still have not replaced him.
Another one I thought of is Brad Friedel. You never think of him as the top GK in the PL, but whenever we play Blackburn I always hope he does not have "one of those game" where he just keep everything out with amazing saves.

i agree with the Kevin Nolan idea
of course Scholes and Arteta as well
i would say Makelele but recently i think people have appreciated his work more than in his madrid days for sure. Gary Speed is another along with Shay Given

Kevin Doyle. If he was English, everyone would be going ga-ga over him.

I don't think so. He's had one good season in which he only scored 20 league goals and suddenly he was heralded as the greatest striker ever in some quarters. He needs to improve on last season and be consistent to even justify a quarter of the praise he received. Overrated.

I would go with Arteta, Cahill, Bullard, Tomasz K, Paul Stalteri, Rasiak,
I think Rasiak should be in the EPL, not the Championship.
He was top 3 in scoring last year. When at Totthenham, he did pretty well but wasn't given much playing time at all.

Taking away Zani's clones, who else ever considered him to be the greatest striker ever? Just the best one in the Premiership last season.

For me it's Shay Given. Being a goalkeeper you never get noticed unless you make a huge mistake or play for Chelsea. For Newcastle he's is usually a massive reason as to why they win 75% of their games. When he's out of the team Newcastle struggle greatly. And you can see that for Ireland as well. He's one of the top 5 keepers in the world IMO.

Obviously I exaggerated but the vast majority of Chelsea fans were proclaiming him to be the best striker in the world.

Last season he was. One cannot argue against form.

Yeah but form is temporary, class is permanent (non-existent).
