It would be nice to start off with a win. But Auxerre aren't always easy opponents, and they have a more than decent gk in Oliver Sorin.

Auxerre has lost about half their starting lineup from last year, though. Sagna, Akalé, Cheyrou, Mathis and Kaboul are all gone. Those were quite good L1 performers, I think.

OL appears (according to the probable lineup here) to be starting both Govou and Réveillère on their off-wing. Any thoughts about that?

wow, the start of the season just snuck up on me there. This feels like a solid victory for the boys.

Keita has been the man for us so far. I loved his signing when we first got him, and love it even more. He's been beating just about every defender one-on-one. His only flaw appears to be trying to take on 3-4 defenders at once. So far he's sent in 2 really good crosses into the box.

Govou and Keita have been alternating between left and right wing.

The only threat Auxerre has provided was a well-struck freekick by Pedretti that forced a dodgy save from Vercoutre.

Oh the team looks real good to start the season off. Govou, apart from his horrible miss, and Keita are looking very lively out there and have been the driving force in the attack thus far. Toulalan is having a hell of a game, so solid in the middle. The ball he sent in to Baros for the goal was a beauty. His posistioning and ball winning has been excellent as well. Grosso is performing well in his league debut.

Govou needs to learn how to finish and capitalize on chances he creates.

Govou is 28...I think the days of learning are behind him.

Though I have to say, he seems more comfortable in a 4-4-2.

apart from his finishing i thought Govou had an excellent game. This was a good win, the team looked brillant. The passing was sharp.

The one-touch passing was nuts. Everyone was on the same page.

i've been MUCH more impressed with Govou so far this season. He seems like a different player to me.

I don't remember 3 nutmegs, but I remember him dribbling by 3-4 guys in the first half before eventually losing possession. This guy is entertaining as hell.

I'll watch Lyon a lot more often from now on.He really impressed me, and the people i was watching the game with, a player with a style that really catches your eye.Great stuff.

Competition with Keita is really doing Govou good.

But what's the deal with Bodmer? He didn't play at all today, came on as a late sub against Sochaux, and only played in defense in the Peace Cup.

I'm sure the Kallstrom situation has something to do with that. I hope Perrin pulled him aside and said 'look we're trying to make Kim happy now so that he doesnt leave, but you'll get your chance soon'.

I watched this game to see Grosso (he played well).

But I'll be watching more of Lyon just to see Keita, skill on the ball, speed, size, passing, the guy is a freak.

Keita is the explosive kind of player Lyon have been wanting for a long time (granted, there is Ben Arfa, but Keita is much tougher!). He's young, he's not injury prone, and best of all, he still has room for improvement. He just needs to work on his finishing.

If he can play like he did tonight in every three out of five matches, I'll consider the 18 million Aulas spent on him to be a bargain.

i loved how him and govou kept switching sides. it was weirding me out when i was watching because i couldn't figure out who was playing left wing.

does anyone get the feeling that OL ISNT weaker than they were last season?

Grosso made some outstanding defensive plays and like everybody mentioned he's much better going forward than Abidal.
