Well the man just did it tonight, tied Hank Aaron for the all time HR record lead. Bud Selig stood up when it was hit, but didn't applaud or even smile. Just wondered what people's take on the matter was.
Me personally, I think he is a great ballplayer, one of the best hitters ever in the game. But he probably used steroids, which turned alot of those great hits into homers, tarnishing him in my Point of View.
I do find it a little hypocritical that ESPN has commentators railing on him during their shows all day, then s**k his d**k during games with homer alerts, bats live on ESPN.com, and all that nonsense.

I agree, he is a naturally very talented but there is no doubt in my mind that he took steriods. I think it's a shame that he has the record tied up, and will soon pass it. History is one thing baseball has going for it and this will just ruin it. Arguibly the greatest record in baseball is soon be broken by a cheat.
Joe Morgan is the worst, defending Barry Bonds every chance he gets. He clearly just has the hots for the guy and I feel for him bad because I don't think there is much left below the belt of Barry after all the stuff he took.
Anyways, sad story for baseball. Interesting to see how Selig deals with it. Still holding out hope that he won't make the hall of fame but I would be shocked if he didn't.

Baseball isn't even a sport.
That said, I could care less if he has the record or not. I don't like the guy, he cheated, and on top of that he is a Grade-A piece of shit human being. I hope he falls under a bus.
But I really could give two shits about a stupid baseball record.

They've been hyping this homerun record for months. It's pathetic. Talk about it when it happens.
My opinion: Good for Barry Bonds, breaking the record when he does. He's a doper, but it seems like he's paying for that quite a bit through it's publicity. Hank Aaron is a legend among legends, regardless of his continuing to hold the HR record or not.
Hank Aaron has been my mother's hero since she was in high school, and she's royally pissed about Bonds and the doping thing, though. She thinks Bonds' record shouldn't count -- I disagree, as he still hit all the runs and that is a helluva accomplishment, no matter what. Bottom line: I wish he'd just hit the damn thing so they can stop talking about it.

lol... trying to hit a 80-90 mph pitch with a piece of wood that is sliding away from you every splitsecond aint considered a sport. it's different, but its a sport.

Ken Griffey Jr. is one of the few baseball players that I like. On top of being a nice guy and a family figure, he did stuff the right way.

Whenever I talk about this with baseball fans I usually ask them, "so baseball is Americas Greatest Pastime, right?". They usually reply "sure, absolutely". And I say "exactly, it's a pastime, not a sport".

Meh, thats just manipulating the situation... I'm not saying baseball is the same as soccer or anything, but its a fantastic sport that everyone should give a chance.
How do Brits feel about cricket as a sport, in all seriousness?

(Not a Brit)
I actually enjoy cricket nowadays. Not watching it, or any of the tradition type stuff that goes with it, but actually playing the game. I played it alot back in India, just on playgrounds with locals, and it's fun as shit. If it's a sport, then baseball is a sport as well. I personally happen to think both are sports.
