Was watching CNN Headline News today and they another story about Becks move to Real. Did it like a typical sports story. They talked about Becks passing his physical for Real, and talked about the potential marketing remifications of it. The footage was I think from his asian publicity tour, him and posh. In the wrap up banter of the story the female anchor chatted it up wondering if he ever got tired stopping to pose for pictures. The male anchor said that he thought he soaked it all up. That's about it.

Nothing earth shattering but interesting again that CNN has hoped onthe Beckham publicity. It's interesting too that the anchors orthe way its being covered seem to really portray just how popular this guy is. Even if its by treating it like any other sports story that would be getting decent play in the US.

I just think Beckham begining to become popular in the US, are just fascinating.

It will be interesting to see if this lasts. Certainly the US news media has a way of picking up stories, say a conflict in some part of the world, giving it coverage for a few weeks, and then just dropping it. Almost like they're just testing an issue to see if it draws interest, like a TV pilot or something. It would seem logical that if Beckham is going to get all this coverage now, that he would get at least some coverage when he actually starts playing for Real.

No, you see we have conclusive proof that Sports Illustrated (and by association CNN) are part of the vast American anti-soccer conspiracy because they made a joke about soccer. So this is obviously just part of their devious plan to ensure that America doesn't like soccer although I am not sure exactly how just yet; I'll have to get back to you.

I think it's not absurd to say that more Americans will watch soccer than Headline News. At least after Andrea Thompson left.
