That was pretty incredible, but I wouldn't rate it in my top 10. Just wasn't competitve enough.

Yeah, but that game was pretty meaningless after Ronaldo scored his hattrick.

Should it not be included because of the hattrick?

Are serious about number 3? that was one of the most boring CL games ever! I dont really agree with 5 and 6 either. Even though they were good perfomances those games were dead by the hour mark, you knew who was going to win. Number 4 wasnt a particularly brilliant match either.

perhaps it was meaningless for Man Utd's hopes for moving on in Europe, but none the less it was a great match.

If that's the case, then why don't we start listing the top 10 friendlies of all time?

When Brocchi lost that ball (Rooney goal) I've almost destroyed my tv
by the way that was a great match, and if the final result were 2-2 that match would have been included in the top 10
(remember that i'm a milan fan :D)

According to you logic we can discount most of the great games of all time then...

So every match that a team who was mid league all season (like Villa) are incapable of putting on a good match?

No Bayern over Valencia in penalties from the 2001 Champion's League final? A very good final, one of the better CL finals in recent times. Oliver Kahn was outstanding.

Liverpool's win over Milan on penalties in the 2005 final was a great game. Not the most beautiful, but definately very entertaining.
Bayern losing against ManU in 1999 was rather painful. The ending was spectacular, though I can't say that I'm too thrilled with the outcome.
The best CL game I have seen so far, was Hamburg's 4-4 tie against Juventus in 2000. Till this point it's still my favorite game of all time, though I would have liked it even more if it weren't for Juve's last minute penalty goal.

Look, clearly this is a matter of personal taste. I agree it was a good exhibition, but the tie as a WHOLE was over somewhere around half-time. A lot of what made that game so entertaining occurred in the second half, when Man U really had nothing to play for anymore. Therefore, it was little more than a glorified friendly near the end. Man U was not going to advance, but they put on a good show anyway. If Ronaldo's goals had come, say, deep into the second, half, then there would've been plenty of suspense-- as it was, that game really had no suspense. I guess you prefer differently, that's fine.
As for your "Villa" comment, that would all depend on how important a match it was. If something's going to make my top 10 list, it has to be aesthetically-pleasing and important. That's why many of the World Cup finals end up near the top of any "greatest games" list.

Not quite sure how you made the jump from A to C there. I suggest you'd better check your logic.
