I am expecting big things from Pumas this year. A lot of dead wood has been replaced. It's a shame Parejita had to move on, but such is life. I am happy for Moreno (who replaces Pikolin) and Barrera who deserve a chance to show what they can do in the fist division. I can't think of a better way to to start the season than with a big win over Chivas.

Espero que se acaben los empates. Que los chavales respondan, y que la garra Puma haga estragos contra el chiverio. Ya no se que partido, de un tiempo para aca, me da mas coraje perder, o mas gusto ganar. El Pumas vs. america, o Pumas vs. chivas.

Playing the first jornada against las chivas is a great way to start the Apertura. It is a shame that el Parejita went to another team but no one is iriplacible in a team like Pumas(cantera). This game will give us a chance to see how our new striker Solari plays. I hope el tuca gives "el talisman" Barrera more playing time because he had some great games in the under-20 world cup(scored 2 goals).

Bravo just lightly bumps Castro off of him and scores. How about showing some aggression.

Chivas 1-0.

See Leandro knock Arellano on his ass towards the end of the first half. That's what I want to see.

1-0 M.T.

Ties are definitely discouraging, but I do think Michel was the MOM for all of the great saves he made. Jury is still out on the new mercs, and it was a little difficult to see Parejita serve up 2 goals for the rayos. I expect they will play better, and I think the defense will be one of the best in the league. Moreno is the real deal.

Unbelievable, Pumas controlled that entire game but we just saw flashes of last season, poor finishing.

Barrera looked nervous, Solari didnt impress, Sambueza was good, the backline was pretty solid. But overall we saw a good team that has great potential but needs to click up front

Spot on as always, Leon.

Sorry I have not been around for a bit, been a-travelling around europe sorting stuff out, but luckily in DF for a few days, before my move, and got to see the game, but had to be over at Palomar - a first for me, and felt I had to watch the language a bit.

Overall a good first view of the new boys, Espinoza started poorly, and I thought midfield was a big problem:- a massive hole at times.

Castro started very unusually off the pace (mentally), but had a decent game otherwise, except the goal. Not certain on that showing about Moreno and Veron together (why were Chivas so content to sit on 1-0?). Leandro disappointed me, but I think I am alone on that. Barrera needs a good few games under his belt, hope Tuca sticks with it, but we clearly miss the boy Parejita.

Over on the left things looked better, thought Velarde had a good one, and he seems to show good understanding with Sambueza already, which is great. In fact we had no real danger down that side, and we clearly caused problems for them. Early days, but he looks decent, maybe a bit slow, but we can always bring Iñiguez on, fast but shite. (no one wanted him again this close season.)

Lots and lots of discussion about the forward line on the terraces. I have to agree that Paco had a good game, but he is a problem. He really got amongst it on the edge of the box, holds it up well, but sadly that is ALL he can do these days. I counted ONE forward pass from him this game.

Solari. tricky, when he scores on his debut v Chivas, but did not impress me too much at first outing. But in Cyprus in the last two seasons he has scored 20 in 21 and 14 in 16. Well, he is 1 for 1 so far in Mexico, be happy if he keeps that up, but he could, and maybe should, have had a hatty on Sunday. Maybe I am harsh.

You all know my love for Scocco, did not have a great outing, but I firmly believe he is a player who needs full games to shine. The old "striker, forward, or attacking midfielder" argument came out again Sunday. My feeling is he has all the attributes of all three postions, except real pace (otherwise he would be Henry. Maybe).

The problem for Tuca is to build a structure which includes his favourite players, but accomodates Scocco's exciting talent and sorts out the problems we have in midfield as well as the problems we have in finishing at the moment. If he sorts that out, and projects the nasty clinical killing of games which we have lost:- we could have a high flying team on our hands. (Maybe a Christmas tree-ish type of formation, what you reckon?)

Not great to see another draw, but fourth on spin with Chivas, and lets be honest with ourselves, they are no mugs, but the result and the performances left Pumas fans leaving CU much happier than their counterparts in red and white (and green now, I believe).

this is a good game indeed but its no "clasico"

Perhaps in twenty years, as Tuca pointed out, it might be considered a true classic. Por ahora el rival mas odiado, sigue siendo el America.
