I am getting a little anxious about the lack of solid news from Arsenal on the transfer market. What happened to the burning need for a new central defender and a new #1? What have I been missing? I know they are hot for Kewell and possibly will be bringing in Kluivert (which would be awesome!) but what about the more pressing needs?

Im thinking along the same lines as you mate. Its a tad worse now luzhny has departed an already threadbare defence.
What i wonder is, why dont they go back in for hoffland, the bottoms dropped out the market, he could be available now for £3.75m or something... He was all the rage last summer...

it looks like, at the end of the day, that we will end up signing C tier'd players (GK cordorba??, fringe players in brazil?) we are getting outpriced by clubs left and right... disturbing arsene cannot find one coup out there with so many deals to be had....

I mean is Cordoba really an upgrade over Taylor? I highly doubt it. South America is not really renowned for the quality of its goalkeepers (except for Dida). They aren't as technically sound as GK's from Europe and N. America. So I guess we can just look forward to opposing forwards dribbling around Cordoba when he plants himself on his knees. I'm getting more depressed the more i think about this.
