As mentioned by other people, the "Megathread" idea is probably a well intentioned bad idea, for these reasons:

- You lose the whole advantage of having Subject lines. For example, in the previous Setanta Megathread, it was mentioned many times that Setanta was coming to Dish Network on August 1st. But, in other threads in this Forum, people were totally ignorant that that was happening - until I started a thread entitled "Setanta on Dish Network starting August 1st". So the different Subject lines are a benefit.

- The other big disadvantage of the Megathread idea is that you have to read through the whole huge thread to find out one particular fact about Setanta. To use the same example, if you were interested in Setanta on Dish Network, you would also have to read all the posts about Setanta in Canada, Setanta on Broadband, Setanta on Cable, etc. - all of which might be irrelevant to you.

So, rather than sticky this thread, mods (in my opinion), please close this thread. Thanks!

How do people find Setanta Broadband? I'm considering ordering it for this season.

So far I've found it to be very good. I've watched part of the Asian Cup as well as the Emirates Cup last weekend. It comes in very well with very little buffering once it gets started. The audio syncs up as well. The key will be how well it is able to handle the load during Premiership games. I have yet to purchase the annual subscription because I want to test that when the Prem season begins.

What computer connection do you have? My computer never seems to hold up well to streaming video. If Setanta Broadband ran like all the other streams I have tried then it would be a terrible waste to me. I'll have to see if they even show much that isn't on regular Setanta.

I don't get regular Setanta, so that's not an issue for me. And with them offering the EPL games this year on it, it's basically the same thing as the channel, right?

I have Comcast high speed. This is the best stream that I've seen. They do have a preview clip that allows you to test the different settings to see how your computer does with it.

About the only things that I know of that won't be on the broadband channel are the club TV channels (MUTV, Chelsea TV). I believe that the Portuguese Superliga is only available on broadband.

Compromise.

I'm re-titling this Setana Broadband and we'll keep that discussion here. There's other Setana threads that are up, running and useful.

Picture quality has been generally good on the broadband service, but it tended to deteriorate during Champions League games which no doubt attract more users than
the usual Cola Championship and rugby fare. I'll be interested to see how it holds up
for Premiership webcasts. I did recently get an email from Setanta saying that they
plan to upgrade their media player.

I've been toying with the idea of getting Set Broadband and just got an SVideo cable for the laptop today which seems to work well.
What I can't tell from the demo is can you go full screen with their video player, and if so what does the picture look like then.
Will probably swerve it if full screen isn't available - not much point sticking it on the TV if you just get a watch a small box in the middle.

Cheers in advance

Does Setanta BB offer the same content found on its satellite broadcasts?

I was under the impression that not as much EPL was offered...

Am considering the move, since I can't get satellite per my apartment's location

I don't know if it will work on the demo but to go to full screen you need to right click in the player window. Then go to zoom and then full screen. I have a 35 inch TV that I have hooked up to my computer with S video and I haven't seen a big difference in picture quality when I go full screen on that as opposed to full screen on my monitor.

At least for next week the amount of EPL games being shown is the same. I would assume that they would show as many EPL games on their broadband channel as they could because that will be the big draw for the channel.

I'm thinking of ordering, but I have a few questions:

1) How much Portuguese Superliga do they show? I looked at the Schedule Highlights for August and September and nothing was displayed from Portugal. How much did they show last year?

2) What kind of matches are usually available on demand and which kind are not? I'm guessing it's a league-by-league thing, but I can't tell which leagues are available on demand.

How does setanta broadband compare in quality to, say, your average sopcast feed. What about a good sopcast stream? I want recognizable players if I'm paying $150/year for this.

it is not the easiest thing to find. I just subscribed a few days ago with the monthly service. I also wanted to wait before paying up for the yearly package. The bonus for the yearly package is that you get access to all the PPV events. Does anybody know how to go about switching from monthly to yearly payment?
