6/26/03: Universal announced plans to remake the 2001 French romantic comedy, "Gergoire Moulin Against Humanity." Plot: A man must find the love of his life during the pandemonium of soccer's World Cup. Sean William Scott attached to star. Scott, Lauren Shuler Donner and Winchester Films to produce.
6/25/03: Among 15 projects picked up for development for the 2004-2005 season, Nickelodeon announced that Whoopi Golderberg, who is already producing a preschool series WHOOPI'S LITTEBURG, will develop "a live-action comedy about a girl's soccer team."
With regard to the movie, unlike the American remake of FEVER PITCH, which has been switched from a soccer to a baseball fanatic, I think there is an awfully good chance that Universal will retain the World Cup backdrop because Winchester Films is an English company, who probably brought $ to the table for this as a co-venture
