Roo kid on the block
THERE have been some famous No 9s in Manchester United's history, now meet their soon to be famous nine-year-old, Rhain Davis.
Brisbane boy Rhain was invited to join Sir Alex Ferguson's multi-million pound superstars after his grandad sent a DVD showcasing his abilities to the talent scouts at Old Trafford.
The DVD features Rhain in action for Redlands United, an under-10s side who play out of Brisbane.
The youngster can be seen teasing his equally tiny opponents with a touch of the Wayne Rooneys and was invited to Manchester for a trial on the back of his impressive recording.
As a holder of a UK passport through mum Leah's side of the family, his move to United was quickly rubber stamped.
Last month, Rhain and dad Mark moved to Cheshire, close to United's training base in Carrington. They will soon be joined by mum and the family's other children, Reeve and Emerson.
Rhain now has the challenge of working his way up to the heady heights of the Red Devils' Under-12s.
That will provide the first big test of his fledgling football career, as after he turns 12 he will learn whether he has done enough to earn a full-time scholarship with the club.
To see some of the tricky skills that so impressed United's coaching staff, watch video below.

I hope this kid doesn't end up getting lost to England's national team! I can't wait to see him one day pull on the green and gold if things go well.

The kid is 9.
If he makes it all the way one day. I'm sure he will learn when to use his trickery, when to pass and when to take his man on.

Not saying he's not good... but what about the development of the kid next to him who never sees the ball? It should be ll about the fun at that age and that doesn't look that fun to mee
He's only 11 *shakes head*

He's just 11, we will see what happens. Anything can happen, I just wish other countries would stop poaching our players.
Be quiet :p. Been a long day and somehow tried to remember his age from a thread on the Asian board a while ago.
*note to self. Never use memory*

a youth under 14 can only join an clubs academy if he lives within a 70 mile radius of the club. so man utd got round this by buying his family a house! good work.

If he is, as is reported from Australia then that would not be an issue, right.. the 70 mile rule only applies to british youths?

if you buy him a house then he lives within the limit. i think that's clever.
it more relates to the time a youngster would spend travelling etc, it just amused me that the rule could be dealt with so simply.

You have to move his family as well for this to work though. However that was always going to be the case with a 9 year old anyway. But that's what we did with Richardson when we signed him from you guys. We bought his family a house in Manchester and they moved there.
