I THINK ITS ABOUT TIME THAT WE HAVE A SOCCER TEAM IN THE MLS NOW SO SIGN THIS PETITION TO BRING BACK THE MUTINY

does this need to get merged into the florida superthread?

i see you have a poll and all, and that's great. more power to you. but i don't think having people sign a petition will get a team back into tampa bay. you need an investor and a stadium plan ... then garber will listen.

i commend you for your effort and enthusiasm, however.

feel free to ask any questions you may have. most of the people in the philadelphia section are working their hardest to bring MLS to our city. we're all willing to give you advice and suggestions.

i'll tell you this much...don't get your hopes up that you are going to be the savior for MLS Tampa Bay team. Expansion is a very frustrating thing. [FWIW, I'm not saying Tampa Bay shouldn't get a team!] And you have to think that Philadelphia, Atlanta, Saint Louis, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Seattle, Portland, Montreal, Vancouver, Las Vegas, and at least 10 other cities are all fighting for TWO spots. Trust me, i know. I live in Georgia. I've NEVER had a MLS team to support (and i'd support any team in the south).

BUTTTT....don't let that stop you. Try finding all the billionaires and rich people that live in Florida (mainly Tampa) and just send them an email.

Your enthusiasm is great... but, we should try to keep it all on one thread.

A lot of us are hungry for a team in Tampa Bay. The petition might not bring one here but it might make that known to some if we get a lot of people to sign it.

no doubt ... but please keep it located in one place. to have it posted all over various MLS sections isn't looked upon favorably.

This is off topic but,if your wanting to watch some exciting soccer
live this season, Tampa has two good college teams to follow.
The University of Tampa and the University of South Florida.

My wife and I got season tickets for USF Soccer last season
and they cost about $70.00.

The University of Tampa plays USF on Saturday August 18th
at 7:30pm for the Third annual Rowdies Cup,the unofficial
kickoff for the 2007 season.

Actually George, the newly created Tampa MLS Supporters (name pending) wants to use this Rowdies Cup as a event to advertise their goals.

I think I sent you the link.

Hey Ethan.
You did send me the link.
I thought I'd let other soccer fans know that they can watch some
entertaining soccer in Tampa even though we don't have a pro team
to support.

The University of South Florida and the University of Tampa
have very good soccer programs. My family and I have a great
time going to USF Soccer games. The tickets are about $5.00 to attened.

...as long as they're called the Rowdies. :D

I second the motion.

One request, though: tread lightly when throwing around the "Rowdies" name. To some of us, it remains sacred.

I actually still have the tiny little white and green Rowdies t-shirt my dad bought me when we had tickets to the '76 season. That's partly why the memory is sacred: I knew who Rodney Marsh was before I knew just about any American athletes, when I was about five at the time, and that's for an American kid born and raised on baseball, gridiron football, basketball, and all the rest.

If anything MLS happens in Tampa, there will be one household of supporters on the other end of Interstate 4 ready to buy tickets and drive to matchdays.

I voted no because

Mutiny is a stupid team name
You typed in all caps
Internet petitions are a complete waste of time and bandwidth
Tampa teams suck.
You said THE MLS, which is wrong

Seeing how Detroit bizman just sold the Tampa Bay Lightning today, I was just thinking that SYoshonis might get excited for another chance at Detroit MLS.

Then he goes and craps on Tampa. Not very nice. ;)

PS #3 worked for the Jericho fans...
