This guy is my favourite player after the klinsmann-moeller-sammer era.

I don't know the exact figure but I'd guess around 3 million a year.

so that is about 2 million pounds, and about 45,000 pounds a week.
ballack's 135,000 a week is in pounds right?

Yep. Schneider's salary looks poor compared to that but he's one of the highest paid non-Bayern players in Germany.

Yeah, he could have earned so much more if he accepted offers from abroad but that's what I like about him. 45,000 a week is MORE than enough to live - and he realised that - and he didn't chase extra money and stayed loyal. Wish all footballers had that attitude.
Like Klinsmann really who threatened to seriously quit playing on environmental grounds.

I want to know what offers they are talking about. The only "big club" I remember ever making an official offer for Schneider was FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen said no.

I was reporting back then. If there was an official offer, I missed it.
People swore there was an official offer for Metzelder back then too, but there wasn't.
I think half the German team was linked with Real after that World Cup.

Oh ok, thanks for the info. I guess most of these things, in fact almost all that we hear in the media are "links" too.
Anyway, I'm not sure there would have been room for half the german team in 2002 at real because real back then had a proper settled team.

Like English and Latin players are overrated and overhyped, Bernd Schneider is underrated. The guy has been consistent for so long now and still plays at a really high level at his age. There aren't many players around now who are doing that.
He'll always be one of my favorite players!

Even though it was probably one of the worst German teams ever...

one of the very best players technique, close control and vision wise I have ever seen. Just count the number of non-perfect touches he has in a game. In one hand.

Oh yes he can. He just doesn't get paid to.

I agree that overall he's very underrated. Mainly because he lets his game do the talking and doesn't seek the spotlight like some others.
However, some here put him up on a higher pedestal than he deserves too.
He's a very good player. Among Germany's best, no doubt. But again, I feel some get delirious with their hyping of him.
