4-0 over Bielefeld in a great game for Bayer and not so great for Middendorp. The Bielefeld fans obviously expressed how they feel about him and Bielefeld's current form.

I'm happy for Barbarez, it was difficult for him to leave HSV after the contract negations failed. 2 assists and 2 goals, plus some other good passes to Gekas who should have scored more than 2 goals today. Sergej is using his tremendous passing skills and experience to help Bayer stay on track while Schneider is injured. The Bielefeld defense was non exciting and you guys could have won bigger, Kiesslings shot on the bar should have been a goal;)

Opinions on Gekas thus far? I know alot of people didn't expect him to score like he did with Bochum but he seems to be doing okay.

In Greece the guy did never get respect even when he lead the league in scoring (twice) with lower side Kalithea and again when he went to Panathinaikos, but never really got respect. Then they decided to send him to PAOK in order to sign another striker (Salpigidis) and he took huge offence so they shipped him to Bochun where once again he proved, style aside he can score wherever he goes.

I'm happy for him in Germany and I love it than our better players choose there to go and play.

Good luck. I hope to catch some of your match while in Munich. I will be at the Allianz Arena for Bayern v. Bolton.

I will be cheering for Bolton though I know Bayern is going to destroy them.......

I'm not fan of Bayer, but I am a big fan of Gekas. He reminds me a bit of Klose's style, not too stylish, but he gets the job them, very opportunistic. He was just born to strike. Having Schneider (although injured atm), Kiessling and Barbarez with him should help him further, even if he has to share the goalscoring responsibilty.

man, you lucky man..you was at Allianz Arena..I´m jealously..I was watching the game on T.V....Poldi scored 2 excellent goals...it is pity that it was only drawn

Bayer Leverkusen playerd before Munich played.....as you know we lost 2:1....Freier scored one goal in 90. minutes...we were not that so offensive especially in the second half..
both goals from Spartak Moscow were penalties..

The new was our jersey : for the first time, our teamteam took to the field in the black alternative jerseys with yellow stripes (maybe it did not bring them good luck).

but it was also very cold in Moscow and the pitch was not that so ideal..

we lost...but we have still chance..

and here is the report of the game:

http://www.bayer04.de/B04E/en/_site_index.aspx

key points:
"good first half and a strong finish were not enough. Bayer 04 were defeated in the „refrigerator“ Luschniki stadium 1-2 against Spartak Moscow, both goals were scored after foul penalties. The subsequent goal by Paul Freier was scored too late.

Temperatures around ten degrees below zero and an unfamiliar artificial lawn did not make life miserable for Bayer. Michael Skibbe started with his „Bielefeld line-up“, only Hans Sarpei came newly into the starting eleven in place of Vratislav Gresko."

Gekas is surely big contribution to Leverkusen team, however he is still not that so fully integrated in the team as the Skibbe once said. Recently was an interview with him in the Sportbild and he was not happy that he is often critized. Rudi Völler said that he still has
an potential to improve. This season he had 9 good chances to score goal, but he was able to turn only 3 of these chances in goal. In the season he scored 4 goals (in the previous season 20 goals for Bochum). Gekas seems to be a bit unhappy. He does not speak good German, but it makes him sad if he read in Kicker notes 6 below his name. Anyway, Leverkusen offered him an additional training and give him a support. He has good improving possibilities. Hope he will feel happy in Leverkusen personally too:)

next victory of our team...2:1 against Wolfsburg

and nice compliment from Rudi Völler for our team....

"Kompliment, die Jungs haben in einem richtig guten Fußballspiel eine richtig starke Leistung gebracht", meinte zum Beispiel Sportchef Rudi Völler

especially Kießling was in good form...Gekas was unfortunately on the bench this time...
Kießling was the striker in this game..

Barnetta scored goal.

unfortunately own goal from Friedrich..

result 2:1

we are happy with this result

Arturo Vidal is the real deal. I watched him play for the first time in the U-21 World Cup in Canada and he was great. He's got a real shot on him, he can launch from long distance outside the box. I watched a South American WCQ vs Peru, and he made a fantastic play setting Mattias "Matti-Gol" Fernandez up by chipping a ball over the defence with Matti putting the ball in the back of the net. Ray Hudson said it was "Riequelme Like", I totally agree. Watch this kid he's only 20

Gekas scored a hat trick for us against Malta.

I did read on our sports sites about your coach being sad with his form away from home this season and his needing to train better. I hope he does.
