Many think the company totally bankrolls the club or contributes huge amounts and that isn't true.

Not anymore.

Then take a look how much Wolfsburg have spent for this season (€ 25 million). And Leverkusen is still the Nr. 3 after Wolfsburg & Schalke...

Dude, that's because nobody is buying big. Hello??

You think THIRD means something when nobody is really spending big EXCEPT those two??

Yeah, and he sucked here.

So do you have any guarantee that this 20 year old Brasilian guy will become the "super star" during his first season in Germany...?

6M. And they could sell him for triple that right now.

Bremen still didn't pay 10, 13 or 15 million for him (he was 21 years old at that time).

And as far as I remember, Diego moved "only" for € 8 million from Santos to Porto...

I don't care whether it's "big" or not. I did just mention facts (Leverkusen & Wolfsburg would never be able to pay such amounts without the support of Bayer & VW)...

See what I just wrote before. You're talking about a club who has usually taken in much more than it has spent.

You sure you didn't work for Bush before? Because you're the best at BigSoccer at taking "facts" and using them to mislead people.

Did I say he would?? I said nothing of the sort.

What is your point??

Porto sold him for so low because their coach at the time, Co Adriaanse, did not like Diego and had no use for him.

Which might be why he can't get another big European job these days.....

Yep, didn't you know that I'm his personal adviser? :p

And before you wanna acuse me of "misleading people", you should take a look at the spendings of last season.

Den Bayern am nächsten kommen bei den Transfer-Ausgaben Bayer Leverkusen (13,1 Millionen) und der VfL Wolfsburg (12,15 Millionen).

Number one, we are talking about THIS SEASON!!

Number two, what do you think, Bayer is some poor club who can't handle finances or do anything without the corporation's backing? A club who has been in UEFA competition for 10 of the last 12 years SHOULD be able to spend 13.1M in a transfer period.

And does that number take into account the 6M they took in for selling Juan alone???

That's almost half of the figure you want us to look at and think they couldn't do it without corporate backing.

You really should look deeper before you put up this silly shit.

Bayer MAKES MONEY in football most seasons.

Do you know why they aren't spending much this transfer period??

My guess would be because they didn't at least make the UEFA Cup. Besides this new guy, they've spent next to nothing and here you are taking about how they are THIRD in the Bundesliga in spending this season.

Yeah, that's easy to say when no one else besides Wolfsburg and Schalke has done any noteworthy spending.

Tell me, is BVB 4th on your little listing??

If escape this desire you seem to have to want to believe that Leverkusen can't do anything without huge backing from the corporation, you might see what's going on. You might see that Bayer Leverkusen is run as a financially sound business.

The company stepped back around 2003/2004. If you read ALL the messages, I admitted they still back the club a bit, but nothing like they used to and nowhere near the extent that VfL Wolfsburg is being backed by VW.

But you seem to want to still argue. And bring up last season's numbers. How pathetic.

Bayer Leverkusen has survived mainly off its football revenue for awhile now. I know this and I'm done with this petty spat.

Bayer fans, congrats on your new signing. I hope he's worth every cent.

Didn't they use the Juan money to buy Gekas, Vidal, Sinkiewicz and Manuel Friedrich? Those transfers alone were more than 10 mio...

*edit* forgot about Berbatov too, 15 million, so I guess its about even. (disregarding wages/other expenses and income)

I also don't really think anyone is really affected by UEFA Cup money...its small time money for someone like Bayer.

That's because Shakhtar has money to burn too.
And that is the kind of club Flamengo should have waited for. Fla's vice-president said Leverkusen's offer was too good to turn down, I disagree.

Ok shame your club didn't get the maximum amount out of his transfer. Can you tell us here a bit about this guy, strenghts, weaknesses etc. Is he a likeable quiet and shy guy or is he a headcase like Carlos Alberto?

I read somewhere a year ago that Bayer still gives 15m+ per year to the club

Quote:

So far about this quotation...

The company doesn't back them anymore.

I wonder what Leverkusen are doing with that money if they don't need it...

"Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in!" LOL!! :D

I knew you'd do that. You seem to have not read anything I wrote after the first message in this thing.

I even replied to directly to you once:

The word I got is that they cut back on the other sports because they weren't generating anything, not to concentrate solely on football.

Sure, Bayer still does "back" the club, but not to the extent it has in the past.

So, I used the wrong wording. My apologies.

I also later wrote: If you read ALL the messages, I admitted they still back the club a bit, but nothing like they used to and nowhere near the extent that VfL Wolfsburg is being backed by VW.

I still stand by that. There was a time that the company bankrolled almost everything. THEY DON'T NOW! Nowhere near! They stepped back in around 2003!

If I'm to believe what you posted, and I do, they get a bit more than a third of their budget from the corporation. They used to get OVER TWO-THIRDS from the corporation.

DOES THAT NOT VALIDATE WHAT I SAID??!!

YOU just don't seem to get it. You focus on the first thing I said when I admitted afterward that statement was wrong!

Again, did you read anything I wrote after the first message?

Or did you just read what you had to in order to keep the little spat going?

Again Bayer fans, my apologies. But I had to let this guy know that if he had read everything, this would have been done long ago.

Apparently he has nothing better to do than to try to keep this going.

Ok, I accept your apologies! :-)

I'll do you a favour and stop it now. ;) At least we agree that Bayer doesn't back them as much as VW does with Wolfsburg...

Complete opposite to Carlos Alberto, personality wise. Renato Augusto never got in trouble with us.

His style of play compares to that of Kaka (that doesn't mean I'm saying he is as good as Kaka). So in other words, he makes incredible runs with the ball and his physical stature also helps him protect the ball while he does this. He has a very good long distance shot and has good vision. His primary weakness would be that he sometimes tries too many individual moves to beat a defender rather than passing it to an open teammate.

I hear Renato scored today for Leverkusen? Also, Leverkusen signed another young player away from Flamengo and loaned them to a 2nd division German side, Anderson Bamba, centerback.
