I agree that overall he's very underrated. Mainly because he lets his game do the talking and doesn't seek the spotlight like some others.
However, some here put him up on a higher pedestal than he deserves too.
He's a very good player. Among Germany's best, no doubt. But again, I feel some get delirious with their hyping of him.
I know he has some weaknesses, but in terms of first touch, close control, dribbling in tight gaps and vision and short passing I've hardly seen anybody better.

And if you are talking about Germany, I totally agree. If you're talking about world-wide, I'd tell you to expand your view.

Oh yes he can. He just doesn't get paid to.
Yea. Maybe because I just finished watching Germany-Czech Republic in Euro 2004 were he missed every conceivable chance :D
However I feel he does get have a lot of chances to score...and either passes or fluffs the shot. Nevertheless, he's a really good player, one of the most underrated in the world. It's weird too, because his position (usually on the right side of midfield) awards those who have speed, power and dribbling, and Schneider really only possesses one of those attributes (dribbling). Credit to him because the rest of his game is very good.

He scored a quite a few big goals for Leverkusen last season. I guess those don't count?

He is a very solid player. Makes great use of his talents. One of the most underrated in the world, yes. One of the best in Germany, yes. But as far as I'm concerned, that's as far as it goes.
I would have loved to see him go to Real and try his hand in La Liga. Staying here is another one of the things that hurts him. It's not the old days where players are expected to stay home anymore.......

maybe there are some players I haven't seen, but to be honest his standard is so high that I doubt there are too many better than him at this.
every time he gets the ball it's a 1 touch drop dead kill.
Anyway, best around or not, I'm more than happy with his contributions to the NT, which is what my point really was. That his abilities make the team tick to a good enough level to win shit! lol

speaking of chances, if he hit that one against italy after the klose dummy, then we'd have been in the final probably.
that's where deisler was missed

And what had Deisler ever done besides sit on the bench injured??

I suggest you find a way to look around then because there are plenty out there who can do it. Which is one of the reasons Schneider is so "underrated...."

What has a team Bernd Schneider was on ever won?

he did have 35 or so caps and he did play for one whole year non-stop. 05 i think it was.
he was a better finisher than schneider is what i'm saying.

True. Well in the EPL if anyone can then it's hardly on display as the game is played too fast.
Hmm...La liga I watch less of but I can imagine there'd be several.
The thing is, I am not sure how many are better. I know there must be several who are as good, and maybe a few who are better.

Lol, yeah i know it was a bad example to pick leverkusen. What I meant is that the NT look like they have a good chance of winning stuff from here on and he is a KEY reason for it.

Hmmm...I don't really see that.
I guess there are those that don't rate him at all or don't even know who he is and then there are those who consider him the second coming. :D
I'd be in the middle leaning slightly to the right. I just appreciate players like him so much. Like you said, he isn't hard on being in the spotlight, doesn't try to be overly flashy and does whatever is best for the team. And I hear he is quite a friendly and respectable man.

Yes, I have read the comments of some clowns in other forums who state that schneider is "invisible", "too defensive" and "doesn't get forward". They would rather have hitzelsperger or something. LOL.

The White Brazilian
article on Schneider

he is not only white Brazilians how we call him here in Leverkusen...but he is extremely nice man....I saw him few times in the park....with his family....and he always smiled....he is very easy-going...and not arrogant...he is even a bit "shy", but at the soccer field he is like "bomber"....He is my favorite player from Leverkusen....
I´m happy we have him.....he has also very nice house here in Leverkusen...and when you are bikiking along his house, he is always nice......maybe this is why I like biking so much:)

I want to know what offers they are talking about. The only "big club" I remember ever making an official offer for Schneider was FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen said no.
well Schneider is not a man who wants to go abroad...actually after his contract with Leverkusen finish and after his career with Leverkusen, he wants to go back to his home town Jena....he is so home-connected.....he has another goals....than Ballack....he also prefer to keep his privacy...does not make any promotions on T.V....he even wants to stay himself....this is his priority.......he is no Beckham and no Ballack...he is very quiet person

back to Schneider..
by the way Klinsi said after Schneider performance in the world cup 2006, that Schneider would be the only player that he would nominate as a coach of Real Madrid...
there is very friendly relationship between Klinsi and Schneider..

Quite a few absences:
After Paul Freier, Sascha Dum and Carsten Ramelow Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker (meniscus surgery) and Ricardo Faty (torn muscle fibre) are now also out of action. In return Pirmin could become part of the squad again after a healed meniscus injury.
According to Skibbe there is no reason to change the recently successful team.
Possible line-up
Bayer 04: Adler - Castro, Friedrich, Haggui, Gresko - Vidal, Rolfes - Schneider, Barnetta - Kießling, Gekas
Kick-off: Thursday, September 20; 5.15 p.m. BayArena
