I was wondering what comedy my fellow red devils enjoy and what beats all others.

My choice is Blackadder and I mean all four series not to mention the specials including 'A Christmas Carol' and the English Civil war one.

My favourite series are the First Medieval series and Blackadder goes Forth which is a brilliant series because it epitomises to a tee the ineptitude of the generals of the army.

Although of course Atkinson gets credit for the brilliantly cynical views especially in Blackadder goes Forth ..'For us, the Great war is finito, a war which would be a damn sight simpler if we stayed in England and shot fifty thousand of our own men a week' but I think Tim McInnery in his part as Captain Darling is excellent although he has a part in all four main series. He also plays Lord Percy in the first two series and a French aristocrat in the third series. I like Brian Blessed as King Richard though there are many actors and actresses that should take credit but are not as well recognised.

Some lines that are quite funny are the folllowing-

'Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation'

'The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the devil's own satanic herd'

'If we lose, I'll be chopped into pieces. My arm'll end up in Essex, my torso in Norfolk and my genitalia stuck up a tree somewhere in Rutland'

'A man may fight for many things:his country, his principles, his friends, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a stack of french porn'

Of Course Baldrick and Elizabeth I are very good but I like the actor who played the dead Richard III in the first episode. Brilliant:D

What about you??

I think the best comedic scene in a film is when Peter Sellers (as the president) in Dr. Strangelove calls the Soviet leader to tell him he's about to be nuked. "I'm just as capable of being sorry as you are."

Stephen Colbert is a brilliant satirist; probably the best comedian currently working right now. I would have said Eddie Izzard was my favorite working comedian, but his recent network TV show was so damn disappointing, that it all but put me off of him for good.

Python's my favorite though. I don't see anyone topping those guys.

Blackadder was brilliant. I think the second series was the best, but the script writing in all of them was genius.

I don't really know off the top of my head what my 'all time best comedy' is, but I have fond memories of Red Dwarf. Some of the lines by Kryton and Rimmer were comedy gold.

Uhm, cake.

That one is classic. Eddie Murphy Delirious is a favorite of mine.

The dry wit of the British Office and Extras always gets to me.

I personally think the Office is one of the best shows of all time, the Beeb version.

I am one of the few Americans alive who appreciate British humor. Go figure.

I'm a HUGE Blackadder fan as well, and would like to add just a few other quotes...

"Have you ever been to Wales, Baldrick?"
"No, but I've often thought I'd like to."
"Well don't, it's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of tough sinewy men roam the valleys terrifying people with their close harmony singing. You need half a pint of phlegm in your throat just to pronounce the place names. Never ask for directions in Wales Baldrick, you'll be washing spit out of your hair for a fortnight."

"Ah, Blackadder. Started talking to yourself, I see."
"Yes...it's the only way I can be assured of intelligent conversation."

"If we do happen to step on a mine, Sir, what do we do ?"
"Normal procedure, Lieutenant, is to jump 200 feet in the air and scatter oneself over a wide area."

"I think the phrase rhymes with Clucking Bell!"

"Baldric, that is the worst plan since Abe Lincoln said to his wife, I'm sick of sitting around the house, let's catch a show"

But of course Monty Python tops my list, there's just so many great skits there.
